My mate was telling me this! U would need different gas structs. I'll found out later can't remember what u would need.

ive been looking around and the only insutructions i can get are for a mk6 golf which needs:

1.. 2 x 6Y0 827 550 C (Skoda Fabia gas springs)
2.. 2 x 1K8 827 761 C (Scirocco bumpers)

the gas struts are used to open the boot, they arent replaced, ive found one site that says no parts are required just reverse the strut brackets 180degrees to move the location on the strut.

I'm an idiot lol i didn't even know if you held it down it opened at all i just assumed it unlocked the boot but not the doors lmao

edit; oh hang on it doesn't lol

Mine doesn't either, it just unlocks it. I'll have a gander at the manual, maybe it's another one of those turn the key, remove the key, put in gear, stand on head, scratch nose procedures to set it

Tried mine tonight and it also just unlocks it :-(

i was asking what parts do we need to make the boot open automatically, and i belive the button needs to be recoded on vag com as the instructions on the mk5 golf as posted on ecs tuning website.

Yeah, press the button which just unlocks the boot. Have to open normal way then. I did realise though that if the car is locked and you unlock the boot this way when you close the boot again the lock activates again and you can't get into the boot again.

that's all that vid's done mind by the looks of it

unlock boot and it's lifted up the same as you would do by hand but probably using a stronger ram or a spring popper if that but it's certainly not a proper open/close linear ram like on the vectra estates etc

don't make em like they used too ;)

Dunno, a bit confused as when he pressed the button the boot actually releases. When I press the button it just unlocks but doesn't release.

depends how the mech is setup to start with really as some are easier than others to adapt

simply using the motor to pull a lever to lock or unlock

switch it to the bar that pulls to open or add another on to it to do the same and it will unlock+open at same time

bit of tweaking for timing etc is the key or better still having/using a catch that has both facilities for lock + release

same principle ye just need to figure out the logic and control

even old sierra's and orions had a motor that locked/unlocked with the door lock and a solenoid that popped the boot open on a button inside

doing it remote wise is the hard part so easier to adapt a system that work the same area to start with but so many late cars have lock's and solenoids enclosed for security it's normally a headache
