Aux Socket Retro fit

My 06 TDI Sport has a blanking plate in the centre console where the aux socket should go. Does anybody know if it is just a case of taking this out and soldering a suitable 3.5mm socket to some wires underneath?

You would probably need to run some cable to the back of the stereo/

exactly, wire it up to the Aux connections.
