Hi
I have mk2 Leon for and having trouble getting my iPhone to play thru aux cable have read threads about settings on radio have tried all but no joy only plays backing tracks of every song and no vocals ,weird cause I'm not greatest singer ;) and buzzes when I adjust aux volume
Hope somebody has an idea thanks

Think you need a special lead that goes in the aux and the usb slots at the same time . I use a usb memory stick its a really tiny one about the size of a thumb nail but still 16 gb

Few things just to check

Your iPhone works with the aux cable in another speaker setup so we can rule out the phone and cable...

Have you had a chance to try any other music playing device through aux in your car?

What happens with normal music from a cd etc?

When playing through the iPhone do all speakers play the backing track or are tweeters disabled or something?

Ahh has head unit got Bluetooth ? Is yours a pre fl i think ive read some have a connection under the drivers seat , try searching the forum in sure ive seen similar posts before .

We'll cd plays fine have tried another phone in aux and still only the backing track plays have noticed if I have phone connected and playing when turn on lights there is a buzzing like interference noise

it sounds like it's only carrying one channel to the stereo, most aux cables split the signal into two, left and right. does the lead you're using have 2 black bands on the jack (the silver tip of the lead) if it only has one, chances are it isn't a stereo cable, that might be the issue. if it does, there might be a fault somewhere along the signal path between the aux port and the stereo.

Well lead is ok so have to check lead to stereo thanks

Sounds like a wiring fault somewhere - possibly within the head unit.

The symptom of hearing the background sound from L and R but no central vocals comes when one channel is out of phase with the other. For example if the signal and ground connectors are normal on one channel but reversed on the other. Check it with a different phone or MP3 player and if it's the same, the problem is in the head unit/wiring. if other phones are fine, get your iPod checked. And remember to push the 3mm jack completely home at both ends.

Yes must be some wiring fault or head unit I will have to trace back and see anyone know easiest way of removing head unit

hi well been tinkering with wiring from aux socket it has 4 wires 2 black and 1 pink and 1 white ,well weirdly they do not seem to go to stereo as when i removed no wires match them hmmm ??? the wires on the aux socket seem to be wired incorrectly cause when i took plug apart and swapped 2 around worked better than ever had but when aux selected on stereo with no iphone connected theres a buzzing coming from speakers this was there before and increases with engine rev which i thought is something to do with electrics being suppressed .
I still think there is something inbetween aux and stereo in the way of wiring ,does anyone have any ideas ??
