Got the B&M short shifter copy from ebay, instructions said you need to remove the exhaust, heat shield and tray sealing the linkages from the outside.

Everyone i asked did this but i couldnt be arsed fannying about under the car. With a little bit of skill i had it done in 1hr all from inside the car, wheels never left the ground.

Anyone who is thinking of doing it and also cant be arsed taking bits off just ask and i can direct you the easy way.

What a cool mod for £25, feels amazing

ive got the guide of how to fit it if anyone wants it - although you need to get under the car to do this -

its on the net if you search in google but just had a look but cant remember where it is

it only shortens the shift dosn't it and not the actual gift shaft.bigger mount at the bottom i believe with less play..can sometimes create a fair bit of rattle and noise.?wouldn't put me off tho

phil mentioned there is small plastic part that wears away on it - something to do with when putting it in reverse - although cheap and east to replace

So how did you do it mate? The only reason I haven't got a short shift is because it seemed like alot of hassle to fit...

just search for a mk4 golf short shifter. Mines sat in my bedroom awaiting the new knob to be orderd :D Also going to add the TT shifter too.

C`mon how did you manage it without removing the eatshield etc...?
