gutted now i know i need the pipe

replace the pipe, i had to replace pipe 17 and parts 2 and 3 on diagram. metal notches had disappeared from metal cap on intercooler hose and it kept popping the seal even when secured by instant gasket and a replaced clip. if you remove the part, the part number should be on the underside.

Hi Guys, I know this post is a couple of months old but I have just had the same happen to my Leon Cupra TDI 150. Bang from under the bonnet under easy accelleration then it drove like a dog

After having a look, the pipe from the turbo into the intercooler had popped off (#17 on MarkWales' first diagram above) which I have pushed back in. When the pipe was off, I did notice a bit of oil in the pipe - not seen anyone else mention this - is it normal? Driving the car now, the turbo doesnt seem to be winding up like it should and producing a lot of black smoke under accelleration. My guess is that there is still a leak in the pipes and the engine is over-fuelling as a result. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks all..

Yep, the pipe will most likely have blown off again and be leaking boost. Oil in the intercooler pipes is normal, as long as it's not pints of the stuff and just a small amount.

Thanks Viking, yep only a spraying of oil inside the pipe. Think I'll get a new seal (and maybe a new hose) and fit them.

Thanks for the info - very helpful for my first post ;)

cant believe i started this thread its still going and its happend again!!!! gonna look into custom pipework as seat pipes are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. anyone know anyone making them
