Yes I have done a search before any smart dude gives it!!

So, I just got me stubby civic aerial and wanna replace my original. This morning I unscrewed the original and would continue to just turn, and now I have just learnt from doing a search that a good tug ought to get it off, Fine.. will give that a go later.

Trouble is, my new aerial dont appear to have as much thread as the original, is there a danger that my new aerial wont sit in the original base to grab thread?? Anyone had a similar issue or do you think it should be ok?

Yep tried it and its far too short.....and its from a new S2000 so definitely genuine.......does thred extension exist?

I don't believe so, if your sure that its not biting at all, you can try cutting away a small part of the rubber from the bottom of the aerial thus making more thread visible. But be careful not to take too much off.

Hmm, seems a little harsh but will try to get the new one anyway and see how I get on. Will let u know..

Thank you all.

I couldn't get mine to screw on for love nor money, no matter how hard I pushed and turned it. I had to shave away some of the rubber to expose more of the thread

Sounds like hit or miss then...Mine went on with a bit of brute force. Didn't need to shave anything off

Changed mine yesterday for the Civic aerial as the OE one broke. Very straightforward.....new one attached without any problems although the plastic shroud does sit over the base a bit but looks OK IMO. Most difficult part was detaching the old aerial without taking the base assembly with it :D

Update

OK!, had my ready brek this morning and with a firm hand managed to get the old one off. It was that bell end of the screw  that was holding it in.

Got me new one and screwed it, had to push down on it a little but it did go on, didnt have to cut it back or anything, sorted. Thanks for all your replies guys..
