Legally you need one, as all old cars with PCV used to vent to atmosphere, but that was made illegal and an MOT failure. So you DO need one, if you're not running one then fine. Just thought I'd state. I've always run air oil separators, oil returns and then a catch can, a la touring cars, but I don't think I'm going to go the whole hog on the LCR!
I considered deleting the N249, but like everyone said, VAG did put it there for a reason, and knowning what I know, do you really think they would have spent millions putting them in if they could have made more profit not doing so? And dump valves to inlet is standard on most older turbo cars!
