Hi all

I've recently picked up an FR with budget tyres on and want to swap them out. I've hears the Pilot Sport 4S from Michelin is one of the best tyres for the mk3 Leons but given they're only available in 19 inch sizes and above they're not a possibility for me with my 17 inch wheels.

I've heard good things about the Goodyear Asymmetric 5s and the normal Pilot Sport 4. Anyone have any other tyres they'd like to put forward? Was thinking more towards the PS4 but would like to know what you guys think before I spend a few hundred on a full set of tyres.

Thanks!

Can't speak for PS4 or Goodyear but I found that conti's or Dunlop's are very good if your on a budget then Uniroyal rainsport 3's are great.
I cannot comment on them being on a Leon as l have only had mine a couple of weeks came with 4 conti's on it 18" but all the above I've had on my other cars.

Depends what you mean by "best performing tyres"? Summer or possibly all season tyres?
I'm very impressed with my current Bridgestone A005s. I'd certainly put them within the top 10 premium summer tyre bracket, but you then have an advantage over summer tyres during winter use. They have an "A" wet rating too. I'd certainly say they are as good or better than any premium summer tyre I've used within the wet, really grip well. As good as most premium summer tyres too within dry conditions. Not used them on ice or snow yet, but expect them to work well over a U.K winter.
Certainly worth considering if you want a decent tyre for all year round use.
I used to run two sets over the winter/summer months. Certainly no need for that now.

I have contisport contact 5s on the back currently but some no names on the front so maybe I'll just get 2 more contis.

I have a friend with Bridgestones on but I don't know which ones but I've been considering the Potanzas too, people seem to like them.

If you are only fitting two, any premium summer tyre would work well.

Check out blackcircles or similar and see what comes up in your sizes. I have Goodyear Asymmetric 3 tyres, and I will buy them again because they are quiet and perform well on my car, but I’m running 19” wheels, so your experience may vary.

Most of the premium tyres are very decent. I would just stay away from Bridgestones summer offerings (had them both on my 2 Seats, a Turranza ER300 Ecopia and Potenza RE050A and oof, I do not recommend), unless you are getting the WeatherControl all seasons...then that's decent.
Dunlop Sport range, Michelin PS / Primacy, Good Year Assy 3/5, Conti 6s, Pirellis, are all decent. If you're looking for something more economical, Hankooks, Vredesteins, Falken A, Nokian PP/WP all have good offerings.

I would say the PS4 might be an overkill for a 1.4TSI or 2.0TDI 150, but for the 2.0TDI 184 or 1.8/2.0TSI, it might be very useful.
