What is the optimum speed and gear to get good g/s readings in an LCR, and how long should you stay at that speed if that makes sense?

-Say if i log the readings travelling in 4th gear at would revs would usually give iptimum g/s of should i stay at?

Im new to this logging stuff and just trying to get my head around it, just tried in second at 5430 and got 134g/s which i know is well short of the bhp i should be running at!

Cheers

No, either 3rd or 4th. Ideally you would always do it in 4th as the rev range takes longer to cover and more data is extracted by the ECU however a 4th gear run will take you to a huge amount of speed so 3rd gear is an alternative, not as good but still ok for this purpose.

- Connect cable to laptop
- Connect other end of cable to OBD port
- Start up VCDS
- Click 'select control module'
- Click '01 engine'
- Click 'Meas. Blocks 08.'
- Type in '002' and then click 'go'
- At the bottom right of the screen click 'log'
- Now when you're at 2000rpm, hold it and click 'start'
- Now floor it until redline
- Lay off and pull over, click 'stop'
- Click 'done & go back'
- The log will now be saved in the Logs folder within the VCDS directory wherever you saved it on you laptop.

If you're doing this on your own, a good/safe tip is to have the mouse cursor hovered over the 'start' button. This way when you are driving you can just hit the left-click button and it'll start. Do this again when you hit redline and it'll stop, pull over and click 'done and go back'.

The car has been serviced recently, running good oil, new sparks, pipercross panel filter, 007P, and silicone TIP. Think i could probably get better readings, maybe another 3-4g/s if i had a better run. Ran VCDS lite vagcom, not the registered version, I have no fault codes, but still unsure if there is a small boost leak.. Any sure fire way to tell, what to do etc? Wasn't doing it on a good private runway, tree's kept coming up on it and some cars were driving on it for some reason so had to back off!lol

cheers pal

Got some logs on this RR

Hi mate, are you using the standard airbox or open cone filter? If you've got the standard set-up it might be restricting the airflow. I run a few logs last week and saw 172-176 g/s on my standard 210 lcr with a green cotton open cone filter, haven't got any logs with standard airbox though, just a thought.

Yeh its a standard airbox in there at the moment. The car is feeling hesitant at times so im tempted to account these possibilities to a boost leak. Not sure where the hell to start, is there a process you can do of checking through etc?does the vacuum hose on the servo often leak and cause problems?

EDIT:

Im struggling to work out if the car is hesitating as it has always been like this, pros since i bought it in July. When some suggestions pop up il have a gander for some leaks, am i just listening out for noise?
