Big bang and lots of smoke

I got a Ibiza diesel FR 2004 model. While driving home tonight when there was a big bang and lots of smoke. No engine is very lumpy and not very powerful. Plus very smokey.

What could the problem be?

smokey as in out of the exhaust? Turbo oil seals. I probably would try not to drive it too much tbh and get it to a proper place to diagnose it asap

Yes from the exhaust.

Would it also cause the engine to run lumpy and not so much power?

when one of the jubilee clips holding a boost pipe failed on mine I'm told there was a massive bang and the car then drive with a **** load of smoke and naff all power

How much did it cost to repair?

Sounds like it could be a boost pipe popping of, the large amount of smoke would be down to the wrong air fuel mix.

what colour is the smoke? That will tell you if its turbo gone or boost pipe.

I third the boost pipe - Happened to my bro numerous times until he changed to mikalor clips on his S13

I got a double pack from my local motor factors (B&Q ) for a few quid and it's been holding fine since.

Keep a spare in the car along with the appropriate socket/ratchet, it's an easily fixed common problem and it pays to be prepared for the next time!

That might just be me being paranoid though.

it may b worth double jubilie clipping them? i have done it on mine! although its been of the road for almost a month!
