refurb may be a lot sooner than I thought, got paid more than expected on the first payday now I just need someone do a photoshop of them (spokes gloss black and dish in red camo)
they don't fit, the shop tried them so they put in some others and weren't to my liking so the guy is currently talking to someone who's an SQ judge to tell me what I need. we're gonna keep swapping the speakers till i find the right ones. then i need to dynamat the rear doors as well as that's where i'm getting rattle. Also hopefully, the guy at the shop knows someone who might wanna buy my old subs off me, then i'd use that money to pay for an SQ sub (thinking having hertz all around) to give me the low end i need for my music.
Don't get me wrong the speakers are good (massive audio TK6 components) for normal music, but for my stuff they're not up to the job
Were they able to tell you the max mounting depth? Or do you know how much the focals didn't fit by?
I've been looking at Herz HSK 165.4s http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/hertz-hi-energy-hsk-165-4.html their mounting depth is 67mm... and the focals are 72mm I think.
It's such a ball ache trying to find the right set-up... all part of the fun i guess... sort of.
I don't think there is a lot of room at all between the speakers and the door cards, so if you start bring the speakers out the door you're going to have to modify the door cards. More time and money to fabricate something. Much easier to find a thinner speaker and keep everything looking original.
Yeah the mounting depth isn't great, they also said if they tried to space it out it would still touch the window when they're down. I'm gonna be trying those hertz next time I think, hear nothing but good news about hertz so fingers crossed! If means having to have custom door pods to get the mounting depth for the sound I want I'm dfinately doing it.
