I have a 2004 1.4 seat ibiza sport. When I brought my car used the big black plastic under body under the front of the car had snapped off. I need to know the name of this so I can contact my dealer and order a new one. It's almost like a large black plastic shelf that goes from both the left and right front wheel archs and ataches all the way to the bottom of the front metal bumper. Sorry for my poor discription but as i'ma newbie I cannot. WOuld really appreciate it if someone could tell me what this black plastic is called. Thanks... EDIT: My dad said it is there to stop water off the tyres and under body from going up into the engine compatrment if this helps

They're usually just called under trays.

Sump guards are more robust and made of metal.

And you'll probably find them more expensive that you expected :)

Ohhh :S How much do you reckon a Seat dealer would charge for this under tray then? And is it essential as it doesn't look any different, it's only if it was going to ruin my engine? Thanks

It's not really essential. A lot of cars do not have them fitted from new. Its purpose is to protect the engine bay from road grime etc. It provides a bit of protection against stones etc and also deadens engine noise.

I reckon you'd be able to pick one up from a breakers yard at a reasonable price. I'm not sure of the exact price from a dealer but I remember them being quite expensive for a what they are.

I had to get one when i brought mine, cost about £30 from dealer, different ones for petrol and diesil due to diesils sump lower down, takes 2 minutes to fit, using a jack and axel stands, as aposed to paying dealer fixed pice of £45 labour for half hour slot on the ramp! joke!
