Hello,

When I bought my car in March, I noticed it wasn't the latest infotainment version. My Seat Leon was running quite well, so I didn't bother with the updates and stayed on version 1896.

But... 2-3 days ago on the highway, the central screen started freezing, then went black, followed by a bunch of fault alerts (SOS, Side Assist, etc.). I tried forcing a restart by holding down the main button, but it didn't work; it froze and went back to black after 1-2 minutes.

I can access the update menu, and the computer stays on.

Question: Do you recommend I do an update? Or is it too risky given the symptoms?
Any idea to fix this ?

Thanks in advance!

Version 1896 is a very old software version. (still the first version)

This software version contains a lot of software bugs, which is why you are having problems with very strange errors.

I would suggest making an appointment with the dealer and having it updated to the latest software version: 1988.

I had a big surprise today: the car infotainment started up correctly and didn't crash. A mechanic advised me to update the software. I thought I'd try it myself. So I went from version 1896 to 1899 and then to 1940. Everything went smoothly, and so far, no errors. I'll definitely do the subsequent updates in the coming days.

When you say you'd try updating yourself, can you tell me what you did?
Did you download and update onto a USB then install it that way?
My unit is showing apps to either update or install, when I tap to do same, it comes up Unable due to background apps....or something similar.
Doing my head in!!!!!

Yes I used a USB flash drive and the update menu (long press on 3 lines on the bottom left).
No error during the process. All update line pass to 100%.
