I'm not that fussed on the mk3...it just leaves me luke-warm. The next model (R?) will have to look pretty stunning...but I doubt it. It just looks like every other car out there. It's lost its "emoción". As it stands, I could walk away from a Cupra 280 with all the kit, and not look back. Whereas out Leon (and the two before it) always get a look back :)
The drive on the other hand is absolutely amazing. Can't get around that. Love it.

The 4wd wouldn't help you too much with booting it anyway. It's more for corners and all-weather grip. That feeling of the car finding its way on all 4 corners. Like RWD with diff, but better.

We paid 12k for the R...because it had a ****load of miles on haha.
Don't care...we know these engines. Last TFSI we had we bought with 65k and it ran without any issues (bar 1 20 quid component I changed myself) to about 85k miles.
The R won't see 65k in our hands probably.

I thought that was was advertised for £13.5k or was that a different one??

u drove the MK3 have u?????

yeah drove the 1.8 petrol with Darth Revan. Lovely drive and very nippy for a 1.8. Impressed. Full on spec. Sound system blew the mk2 one out of the water.

Then test drove the 280 DSG a month or two ago. Absolutely smashing. Great progressive power and the handling is nothing less of ground breaking for the Leon.
Hated the soundaktor. You want it in Cupra mode basically all the time, but the noise of the soundaktor is just too loud for me. Hopefully vagcom can sort that.

I can't fault the interior, comfort or drive. But it's just the outside...meh...

i have to admit I wasnt that keen and then I saw a 5 door in the flesh and it looks nice

but i prefer the MK2.

Have a drive of one.
In any case...26-ish k for a car we're "meh" about...that's just not going to fly.
Maybe in a couple years when it;s come down to a normal price.

He just gets on me nerves. He has been an arse to me ever since I pulled him about making sexist comments about women

now he just keeps comparing exhausts.:blahblah::blahblah:

I don't give a toss about his crappy home made exhaust lol

Thats Your opinion about that situation, but the truth is worse than You can imagine
Beeing polite is not a skill and can not be taught

Ha ha i think we all had a dig at the BCS exhaust but it was always in jest and light hearted ;)

Back on topic, i don't get any black soot up the back of my car, but my exhaust tip is the Cupra style tip and i made sure it doesn’t protrude from the rear valance - quite stealthy and OEM looking.

What I have noticed though is that the exhaust tip gets damn HOT after a good thrash, never had a car get the exhaust tip so hot!

I was going to touch it the other day but I could feel that it was red hot from a mile away lol!

Well mine boils water instantly so it's pretty darn hot!

I do know that mine runs quite lean anyway so may explain why i dont get a lot of soot.

Why...WHY??? Why would you ever have the inclination to touch something that you know spews out flaming hot gases?

Why not have a cuddle of your manifold? :)

Cos I wanted to see how hot it was? Lol, sometimes do that with the cooker

Hahaha :p

I'm just going to stop bothering with washing it lol

Anyway...
The R has a diffuser; does anybody know if this actually does anything?
I.e....will it maybe make the black soot on the back less because of it streaming the air better?

I can imagine that if the airflow is faster under the car, then it would suck the exhaust downwards, and away from your boot.

Edit: and FFS do not start Cupra vs CupraR **** here....

That is actually a really good point

I think the problem is mostly because of the dual mid bumper pipes.

I had a lot of soot on my boot on the previous car, a Megane 225.
That was de-catted and remapped.

No, you need to keep it clean otherwise it will cause pitting and then never come off.

Yes, good point, another reason the R is superior! It actually stays cleaner than the peasants version!!

No only joking, however the silencer on the cat back is the going left to right if you like instead of being in a line like cupra & fr.

Compared to the normal exhaust, it is almost a straight thru pipe too
