Dam fella you've put quite a lot of work in to this just read the whole thing - Awsome so far bud :D - I wish i had taken you up on your offer of VAG-com now lol i'm sure my car isn't right (underpowered maybe) not sure. Anyhoo good job on the motor looking good bud
Cheers for the kind words mate. :D

I can always bring the old laptop again if required. ;)

Car looks really good mate! Keep up the good work :p

I've just not had the time for mine recently, feels like I've been neglecting it :(
Thanks Mick. I'll get some more updates done as soon as I've got my tax, MOT and insurance out of the way, got them all within the next 3 weeks. Insurance is never kind for lads of 18 (19 in a week!) like me... :(

Noticed you've been a bit quiet on the RR front lately. Suppose you did have to fork out for your timing belt change and service though!

Yeah I know how you feel mate, only this year has mine been quite good... And thats still £730 lol.
Car is gleaming though, nice colour in the sun :)

Yeah I have, going away soon too - So hopefully will all start again when I'm back :D

I'll be happy if mine's similar to £730... not going to hold my breath though!

Nothing like a holiday to recharge the batteries mate. Looking forward to Easter myself, might be able to bag myself a long weekend away somewhere. :D

Hopefully! More money for mods if it is

I know mate, can't wait lol. You should try, anywhere away from here does the trick :p

Good seeing your car at the meet lad, like the red theme on the interior, which are your sidelights pal? Heard so many mixed reviews and as you seen got candles compared to my dipped beam.

how easy was it to do the headlight conversion from single to twin reflector?? need a new headlight & considering a conversion just wondering how difficult it is to convert the wiring

Thanks mate, I do apologise for turning up late!

I wouldn't recommend my sidelight bulbs, yes they look good but don't last very long! Previously they've lasted 2 months, however this pair is into month 3 and still going so we'll just have to wait and see!

Mick-FR uses these sidelights and they seem to work well for him. I've also seen good reviews on the Prism 501 LEDs you can get from Halfords.

It's do-able but not easy, unless you're handy with electrics and very patient. :)

What colour do they give off?? want a bluey white but not to blue. Then again looking at your headlights :p

Joking mate, car looks awesome

In terms of sidelights, the ones that Mick-FR uses, have 4 SMD (surface mounted diodes). At the end of the day, the more SMD's the sidelight has, the brighter it is.

I've tested about 5 different kinds of sidelights, and am currently running a set of 8 SMD lights (same design to the ones linked by Blanco a couple of posts ago). They are much brighter than any others that I have used, and not too blue. Lovely blue/white :)

I got mine from ebay, a chinese seller. They took about a week or so to arrive, but they at £1.58 per pair they are great! I ordered 3 pairs for £4.74, just to keep a couple in the car in case of needing a replacement :)

Had them in for about 2 months at the moment, all going well, no flickering :)

Had my sidelights on for over a year no problems, not flickered once. They are also bright enough for use as a sidelight, but not overpowering - You can't see them over my HIDs.

Your lights still going strong Chris? :)

I'm definitely going to get a pair of sidelights the same as yours, however this set is beginning to bug me they've started to last a while as soon as I threaten to change them!

Headlights are still going strong as far as I know  I'm going to move the car onto the drive shortly so I'll test them, just to find out. :D

Minor update - had 2 nearly new Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s fitted on the front, to replace the aging Bridgestone Turanzas, one of which had developed a small rip in one of the tread blocks. With the Turanzas nearly worn out and my MOT being on Saturday, I thought best to get them changed.

I'm quite happy, about £80 fitted for a couple of Eagles that have covered no more than a couple of thousand miles. One does have a safe and legal puncture repair though.

In other news I've finally wired up my fog lights, so pictures will be on their way at some point!

on the subject of headlights - i have 501 SMD sidelights which are bluey/white and i have bright white headlight bulbs....any idea of were to get a bluey (but not chavy) bright headlight bulbs??

On the subject of headlights, my parents bought some xenon gas filled halogen bulbs off eBay (very cheap) from I think it was AceParts (or was it RaceParts?), and they really do give the HID look. They look just like 5000k HIDs. However, they are no brighter than standard bulbs. And any Audi A6 owners will tell you the headlamps are absolutely shite, HID kits on those are almost a statutory mod!
I think it's safe to say that you have an SX now, minus the Climate control :)
And the Grandad grey seats! SXs have 2 tone grey seats I believe... clutching at straws though! :p

Wiring in the fog lights wasn't particularly difficult, what was difficult was getting the wire from them to the headlight switch! I tried a few different ideas before eventually settling on running it in line with the bonnet release cable. It's the only way I could get the wire through the bulkhead.
