R1 diaphragms will split , why do you thnk APR dont make them any more ..
I had a Passat in last week with a 007P that had been on the car for 50,000 miles and never serviced , still working like a dream ...popped in a service kit and off he went
most sticking happens when the Mobil1 grease hasnt been applied properly

We would normally inspect the valve every 12000 miles or so .......

In order to determine if the valve requires a service I would recommend that you carry out the "leak back test" , in order to see if it is required.

1. Simply push/displace the bottom piston up to the top of the valve either using your finger, a pen or any suitable implement, whilst doing this cover the top small vacuum nipple with your index finger.

2. Leaving your finger covering the vac nipple, remove the pen, the piston may drop approx 5mm but should then stay in position by vacuum.

3. You should now see through the bottom port that the piston is held/drawn to the top of the valve .

4. Next, remove your finger from the vac nipple. The piston should return to its seat.

5. Repeat this test several times and if there is no gradual leak back all is satisfactory and the valve can be refitted to your vehicle.

6. If however the piston moves back down, whilst you have your finger covering the vacuum nipple, the valve requires servicing. If this is the case please order a service kit from this link

Item 2 . we do not upgrade the springs on the cars we tune at Forge , however some customers feel that this modification suits them , if you would like to order on line please go here

Hey do i read that right, you don't change the springs on the cars you tune at forge? Whats about 1.8t stage2/3, do you still use the green spring?

The 007p was on my car when I bought it. The previous owner said it had been on the car for five years and had done between 40-50k. It was also second hand when he bought it. Yesterday I tried the above test and I'm pleased to say it past with flying colours. When the pen was removed it did not move at all.

Strange. In another thread one of their staff claimed the oem valve cant hold remapped boost, I pm`d him and asked what the max boost it could hold.... said he didnt know.
Would also love to know why they are certain the R1 will split and how long it will last and something to back this up.... poor show slating another product otherwise.
R1s are still for sale on aprs website so why claim theyre not?
Are they also suggesting the 007p valve doesnt need servicing yearly? yet state it does?

Come on forge are you saying the R1 splits and hence been withdrawn or is it sour grapes?
