i will be interested to know how ou find it. i have got a used handset sitting upstairs and it just needs resetting.

i was tempted to go to ****** power in hinckley ( it will get ****** out as they are not to be mentioned on here) but i just like the fact i can take it on and off as i feel.

That was how I got mine, I got the unit second hand very cheap and had it reprogrammed by superchips. I will certainly post up what my initial thoughts are once I have installed the software.

A mate of mine bought a Bluefin unit for his Audi TDi. He wanted to return his car to normal and I offered to take the Bluefin off his hands. He contacted Superchips who told him he could sell it but the new owner would have to contact them for a price for their new map etc.

In the end he just told them that he'd bought a Cupra and they let him have the new stage 1 map for £205 and he gave the unit to me. So total cost to me was £205 and bottle of nice whisky.

how particular do you think superchips would be about putting a new map on the unit if it hadn't been him requesting it? I see you can get the units on ebay for ~£10.

Give them a call mate. Different maps are cheaper if you are what they call an 'original owner'. You might need to pay a bit more if you buy a 2nd hand one but they might give you the warranty as well (not sure on this one though). Their customer service is very good.

when i spoke to them i gave them the serial number of the unit and they quoted me.

They did ask if it was a new or old unit..( the new ones have a small usb port on them)

Other than that they just said it will need a software update and it would be £202 delivered back to me.

I bought the handset of a mate who had it on a mini one.

Horragh, I got the unit back today so all I have to do is plug it in when I get home I guessand follow the instructions?

Or do I have to connect the Blufin to my PC first?

Ta

plug it in, download the standard map from the car to the handset, plug into your comp, email it bluefin, if you do it within work hours you should get a copy straight back, and then go upload it onto your car.

Yeh, pretty much as GrahamFR says.

You also need to install the Bluefin software on your PC. First thing to note is there isn't a Mac version. You will also need to install drivers if you are using Vista or Windows 7. Windows 7 is a bit more of a pain as you have to do it manually. You should find all you need here:

Just a note. I did mine on a Sunday (which is listed as out of business hours) but the map was back with me within 30 seconds.

Yeh, my mate said the same thing so I was surprised when it came back straight away. They might have upgraded their system as having to wait a day for another 50bhp would kill me ;)

maybe its automated now, but when i did mine i sent it off at night and it took till the next day to get back to me, was some years ago now tho

So to conclude - There's no longer a member of staff sat there surfing the net with their E-Mail open, waiting to receive the customer order, so they can press a few buttons and out pops the remap.... :p ;)

Do you still then need to feed it back to the car ECU using punched paper cards?
