It's a really cool car Mike, you'll love it !!! - when do you get yours ?

Andy

It should be here either the end of the week, or most probably knowing what car dealers are like, next week at some point!

My car's not due until the end of april, givent he estimate the dealer gave me.. I said i'd phone beginning of April but I think I'll phone earlier as I want an update! lol.

do you thnk there's much chance of them turning around and saying that it'll be 6 not 8.. or more liekly they'll say 10 not 8?

I want my car!!!

I hate to say it but I would of thought it would be more likely to be late than early. Keep pestering them though as its always good to find out where things are. Fingers crossed though it will hopefully be to schedule. I think I was told 8 to 10 weeks when we ordered mine. Maybe they were covering their backs by giving it a couple of weeks.

I was reading this thread as I'm trying to find out if I need to extra ipod bit to be able to control a USB memory stick from the head unit.

I was told that I needed the extra bit but from what I've read when you put a memory stick in the USB port you can select folders and tracks from the head display. Is this correct?

Yes - but you would still need to have ordered the Combined USB/Aux option when ordering the car.

Basically all cars come with an Auxillary socket.

Some cars are specced with the Combined USB/Aux - this means the owner can insert a usb memory stick and play music from that, or they can plug a device into the aux and play music from that.

To use an iPod/iPhone with the head unit you would need to have speeced the combined USB/Aux port, and then buy an additional cradle - that plugs into both the USB and Auxilary.

I hope this clarifies things.

Thanks Mark,

I've been told that the 'year 11' Ibiza now comes with the combined AUX/USB as standard.

As I don't own an ipod I just want to plug in a memory stick and scroll through what's on there. If that can be done on the head unit without any extra bits then great.

Oh cool - well in that case if the AUX/USB is now standard then you're good to go :)

I have an iPod, but never used it in the car as it was so much cheaper to get a memory stick and at least you can leave it in the car without the fear of it getting stolen.

It can't be done without the add-on for the HU (at least on the 2010 cars and below). I was quoted £210 by SEAT to get this done AFTER sales. A different manufacturer's unit can be bought and fitted for £60, and play from a USB stick, but it does NOT show any track/ID info on the HU, just "Track 1, Track 2" etc.

I have looked into this for the last year and a half, and my head is battered by it all, i've been in touch with SEAT a few times, and lots of other manufacturers, but all say it cant be done after sales (apart from the one which doesn't show ID info on the HU).

Regards,
Andy

I ordered the usb/aux for my ibiza but they had not fitted it so the dealer said they would order the part and fit it. If this can not be done there is going to be one very unhappy customer to deal with.

Yeah it isthe gateway 100 and shouldn't be confused with the factory iPod prep.

Sorry Techie could you tell me the difference between the denision and the factory prep. If I am not getting what I ordered then I will be very dis-satisfied as I wanted to have full control of my ipod from the steering column, otherwise I would have just used a lead into the aux socket.

Can anyone take a picture of the factory fitted usb connection and ipod cradle please. I would be grateful so that I can see what the dealers are proposing to do.

The Denison kit will be just a lead in the glovebox. The prep kit and dock fits nicely in the centre console. Plus you can use the USB socket, with the Denison kit it just plugs into an iPod.

I know this has been questioned a few times but there seems to be some discrepency between answers - with the Dension kit can one control the ipod with the stereo/steering wheel controls and will the track info display on the radio screen?

Thanks
