Hi guys,

Looking to buy a new car and the ibiza bocanegra or cupra have really appealed to me. Just wanted to hear from the experts what the difference is between the 2? And also which you would recommend? Looking for a 2010/2011 one as I have about £8000 to spend. People have warned me about the DSG gearboxes too saying at this age they maybe unreliable etc. Anyone who has had one, it would be great to hear your opinions and also advice on what to look for when viewing.

Thanks alot

Hi. Both cars have the same engine, the bocanegra just had some visual upgrades such as the black section of the bumper etc. The engine was changed from a cave to a cthe in later models. The cthe has the battery in the boot and some other mods to try and rectify some of the initial problems. It may be a little more, but try and get one with the revised engine as it should save you heartache in the long run.

i got the cupra on Tuesday and love it. You won't be disappointed. mine was 13 plate with 23k on the clock for under 10k just so you can get an idea (from seat dealership)

Hi thanks for your reply. Got A bocanegra in the end. Got it for 7500 2011 with 45k on clock. Seems to be in good condition with full service history and comes with a years warranty. Is this the newer engine then? Be good to know lol.

Thanks

Hi mate. Your documents should show the engine code on it. Believe it may be either the v5 or the log book, cthe is the newer one and cave are the older generation of engined I believe.

You'll have the older CAVE engine in that. If it's on its original engine and runs well then you've probably got a good one.

It seemed to run well when I test drove it. Pick it up on Friday. Got a years warranty on it so if it's not a good one then will hopefully find out in that year! You think it will be ok then?

Thanks for your responses

I've had my cupra for around a month now, and it's epic, a big jump in power from the 1.2tsi FR I got rid of. You'll love it.

Can't wait to pick it up. What age is yours? Cheers
