Re: Bocanegra returned less than 5 minutes after leaving the stealers! UPDATE: 23/04/

Hi there, sorry to hear about car, ive just ordered one from smc windsor also. i actually work for hughes seat in farham common but got offered a better deal at smc and they gave me staff discount. they were very very helpful people and treated me as one of there own which i was very happy about. i think the fact i decided to buy the car from them rather then my own dealer made them pretty happy, and im sure my purchase will get looked after and go well. if not ill regret not buying from my own seat delaer!

i was estimated a 2 month wait for a build so hopefully june time i will have it, but i wont hold my breath. ill try and ask my dealer about seats email address and try and find some stuff out.

Re: Bocanegra returned less than 5 minutes after leaving the stealers! UPDATE: 23/04/

Assuming that Peter Wyhinny is still the Managing Director of SEAT UK then I have just sent a rather scathing email to what I think is his email address (I tried a couple of different ones actually), and none of them have bounced back yet, get in!

sorry to tell you mate but they will recieve your letter and it will be passed onto the customer care advisor who has been assigned to your case , its happened to me on the last couple of weeks , they wont even reply to your email , its not their policy , i kid you not.
As for the aftersales director , i asked to meet with him to be told he does not meet with customers and is not a people person and his advisors will deal with things if they deem it suitable.
Serioulsy SEAT have a lot of learning to do , my advice is walk away as i am doing , i just hope you dont have mechanical problems , because they will treat you the same.

That doesn't sound good, not good at all! You'd think that they would at least acknowledge receipt of your email, I've spoken to their customer service line on several occasions and the operators that I've spoken to have been less than helpful, I hate to say it but they seem to have adopted a fleece 'em and scarper attitude.

Has anyone here successfully complained to SEAT UK?

Bocanegra returned less than 5 minutes after leaving the stealers! UPDATE: 26/04/

This afternoon I was at work just getting ready to finish my shift when I received a call from a blocked number, I answered it and spoke to a very nice young lady from SEAT UK called Kerry who said that she was from the customer care team, she said that they had received my letter with the letter I sent to the dealership attached and that they had also been in touch with the sales manager at SMC who had already written to them. Kerry was very apologetic and and said that she had spoken to the aftersales area manager (I forget his name...it was a bit odd and longwinded!) who was looking into the matter and had authorised her to make a goodwill gesture in order to restore my faith in the brand as that car should never have left the factory, YES...YOU READ IT RIGHT...A GOODWILL GESTURE!!!

It was music to my ears and I was so taken by surprise that I didn't think to go into just how "goodwilling" they intended to be, it was difficult to talk at work and it put me on the spot a bit so I told Kerry that I would email her as I'm not always able to make calls and/or answer the phone at work.

I was very taken aback and Kerry did what she is obviously paid to do VERY well, however, that doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to roll over, I've got to decide what I want from them, I've got a few ideas...a couple of which are just downright cheeky; obscene in fact, but what do you guys think?

robdf2 - I mentioned to her about the fact that I didn't receive any kind of acknowledgment that my email to SEAT UK had been received and she said that they have a system in place to automatically reply and that I should have, she is going to looking into that also apparently.

Well I'm toying with the idea of asking for a 3 year service pack (probably the basic pack, not sure which is which at the minute) and 10% of the balance back, so £400, I told you it was obscene, isn't it?

I did think about asking for the sports brakes but to be honest I don't really want anything that involves SMC having anything further to do with the car, and you just know that SEAT would insist on having that particular dealership install them, if I could take it to my regular dealers then fine but like I said I don't think they'd allow it.

Mk2_Cupra - You do know that I meant asking for BOTH the service pack and the 10% back?!

If I know SEAT, then Kerry has already read this thread anyway and is probably monitoring it, so keep it realistic. ;)

But well done for getting a favourable and deserved outcome, I'd say some free servicing and/or upgrade accessory parts are well within the remit of goodwill. They can only say no if you push it too far.

*GULP* They are watching mate............... hehehehehehehe just kidding. In all fairness I think the servicing is the way to go as I said, dependent on your mileage, if it aint gonna be too high then push for accesories. My dealer was wonderfull in that respect tbh. After all the crap I went through They tossed in the supagaurd free which aint cheap as you know and a very decent discount on my i-pod kit on the labour side so defo keep it realistic and I am sure you will come away a happy man.

I'm sort of in the same boat!

Oh dear, all i can say is that i fully sympathise because i'm sort of in the same boat. I've recently just purchased my 4th new ibiza in as many years from the same dealer so was expecting some excellent service as a repeat customer. I purchased a 59' plate FR Tsi in silver which was an ex demonstartor and had done about 600 miles so near as damn it a new car. :)
The weekend before i was due to pick it up some toe rags nicked the wheels whilst it was parked on the forecourt. Having butchered and bodged the drivers door lock trying to get into it they decided to smash the drivers side rear 1/4 window to get the locking wheel nut key and they got away with the wheels. [:@]
The dealer in there infinate wisdom decided to replace them with the optional accesory one's without saying anything and not only that fitted tyres that resembled Ghandi's flip flops! I'm not kidding, i know the Fr is only the cupra's little brother with 30hp less but it would still be like trying to drive a block of soap on ice.
So as i went to pick up the car and noticed the wheels. They had however managed to replace the window but had to order a door lock to the key which was to take a few weeks so they fitted a passenger door lock blank to the drivers door handle to cover the hole where the lock should be. So now i have a knackered door lock, wrong wheels on **** tyres and i haven't even got to the best bit yet.
Having said i wanted the original wheels and some nice sticky Pirelli's which is as it should be they then proceded to removed a brand new black FR from the showroom so they could swap the wheels car to car. "Now were getting somewhere" i thought. With the car back out front and ready for collection a second time i thought i'd better have a proper look round again only to find the clumsy mechanics had dropped one of the alloys on its face whilst changing it pitting all the spokes on the wheel! Christ, what else. Oh yes, a lovely scratch down to the undercoat on the drivers rear 1/4 panel where the little tea leaves had dived through the broken back window and on climbing out obviously got broken glass scraped down the panel!! [:@]
It's since been back for the paint and new wheel but having replaced the door lock they've left something loose and there's a squeak like a budgies head is stuck in the drivers door and its driving me up the wall! Needless to say i won't be buying from this particular steeler again. TBC.

09' FR Tsi. Side skirts, rear roof spoiler, matt black "bocanegra" vinyl wrapped front bumper and matt black vinyl wrapped rear bumper / splitter divider.

I would go with the service pack as I have just invested with the same at SMC just makes the servicing bill easier when its time. If you get it as a freebie godsend. If not the SEAT sill guards they retail for nearly £90.00

If they are watching then I'm glad, if not and they hadn't got back to me with the desired response I was going to send them the link anyway...

I think a a service pack is a must really, even the basic pack saves you a couple of hundred quid when you pay for it, so to get it for free (though I realise that there's no guarantee that I will yet) would be as chuckb said a godsend.

Just need to think of a cheeky little accessory now to throw in for good measure :)

I ended up emailing SEAT last night and asking for a service pack (of their choosing) and an additional boot tray, if they agree to it I'm going to give the additional boot tray to my Dad, I couldn't think of anything that I desperately wanted and I know he's been after one since he got his Boc.

The sales manager from SMC called me this afternoon to ask if I had heard from SEAT and said that he had been in touch with them but was not confident that they would do much about it, he said that they tried to shift the blame back onto the dealership when they spoke to him, in any case he was pleased that I had been contacted by them and was very pleasant on the phone.

Oh...he also mentioned that my new car should be in tomorrow or the day after, so with a bit of luck I should be picking it up on Saturday :)
