I took mine off so I could hear the engine, it had also started to go mouldy and rub on one of the pipes. Bit of subject, but has anyone else noticed that the underneath the bonnett isn't fully painted? Or is it just mine?

Not removed sound proofing Mark, but on shot's of other's car's I have seen that have removed it, the paint underneath on some is poor. So, it isn't just your's.
There are alot of drain holes under there. I think you'll be surprised just how much water will get through.
I fitted the new clips and taped up the holes yesterday. The water now holds under the plastic till I open the bonnet of drive the car.
I'm going to make my own drain holes that will drain it neaer the screen and not in the engine bay.

Has anyone got the part number of the felt? Just to make it easier when ordering as warranty wouldn't replace it.

On a recent service one of the coilpacks needed replacing due to rust!
(A second coilpack was rescued with a bit of cleaning)
You can guess where the water was coming from that caused the rust on the coilpack.
It was the clips that hold on the plastic part on the high end of the bonnet.
Water was getting through, sitting on top of the engine and also in where the coilpacks sit.
If you do have the sound deadening removed it might be worth a check after rain and cleaning to see if you have any water hanging around the coilpack area

Seat Factory aware of Soggy Sound Proof Layer Problem
Seat Customer Care (UK) contacted me yesterday and the matter has been escalated to the factory in Spain who will be developing a proper fix to this annoyiny problem. I suggest anyone who is getting a wet soggy sound proofing layer contact their dealer immediately so that you will be notified about the cure when it is made available.

The worst possible thing to have above the top of the engine is a permanently soggy blanket of mouldy soundproofing in my view...- just bin it and then use an engine cover to protect coilpacks ?

currently looking at a car atm and noticed under the bay today that there was a bit of damp on the engine cover and the soundproofing...
we've had a LOT of rain this week but on Thursday when i went, there wasnt any damp on the engine cover...

The clips hold the Bonnet Strip in place around the curved front edge. If you remove the bonnet insulation, you will see the clips sticking through the bonnet. Replacing those alone will not cure the leak as there are drain holes in the bonnet recess under the Bonnet Strip, the water needs to be prevented from getting under there.
