Boost gauge without cutting pipe

5mm t-piece from memory. I bought the autogauge boost gauge from halfrauds; which is a damn good match for the lcr dials. it comes with a t-piece and some vac-pipe (not sure on the size, but fits their t-piece and gauge) which is long enough to reach fpr. However, the vac-pipe is see-through plastic and looks a bit cr*p so you may choose to replace it with something better quality - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RED-Samco-Vac...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 or similar. That t-piece is the same t-piece you get included with the gauge, and the anti vibration thing is a gimmick as far as i can tell!! never heard anything about vibrating gauges before!

Hello mate, how you doing, I hope all is well. Got my Boost Gauge, its the Auto gauge one. It comes with two wires, a red and black. Do you know where I can connect these to, I wonder if you have any pics of how to connect the wires and to where? Much appreciated. :D

Hi mate, i'm good, just come back from pub though so excuse any bad typing! is it only a red and black wire from the boost gauge? if so you will need the black to go to earth, and the red to a switched live or the illumination live on the headlight switch.

yes its only red and black wire, which means the needle may not illuminate, probably just the dial itself that will illuminate. i will only know once its fitted.

so you say I need to wire it to the headlight switch., is that correct ?

it is normally the easiest place to take power from. if you look further up the thread i posted a link to a picture of the dimmer switch (headlight switch) with arrows showing the wires you need to tap. where it says purple and orange wires in your case it is the red wire.

sorry to sound thick, so its the Dimmer switch I will need to pull out to expose the wires, not the headlight switch.
there is a scroll button type switch that controls the amount of light on the dials, when you say dimmer switch I take it you are referring to the headlight on / off switch ?

it is the vertical connector on the headlight switch unit (actually goes to the scroll switch). as lee says, it is accessible with just taking out the fuse box panel.

Well, personally, I fitted my tee-piece into the DV vac pipe...but that was before I read the threads about the best position. I can't say I've experienced any problems personally though. .

You won't, but manifold boost pressure / vac is the reading you need to see. You're seeing a reading that the N112 / N249 are controlling. Not always the same as manifold boost pressure. ;)

Hi, with fitting the boost gauge in to the A pillar if its removed would it leave behind any marks from where its fitted or is it completely reversible?
Thanks
Adam

Tried fitting boost gauge, wiring no problem, but cannot fatham out how to feed the vacuum pipe through, spent an hour trying to see how and where to feed the vacuum pipe from. cannot find no opening anywhere. Any help much appreciated, can someone talk me through the process of vacuum pipe instalation from engine bay to boost gauge.

fitting a turbo timer is a PITA due to complications with the immobiliser. I have mounted my gauges in a pod infront of the gear-stick angled at the driver (i made the pod out of fibreglass and covered it in leatherette)

The one I made looks like this:

However your best bet for a pre-made pod is the A-pillar replacement from Nomad Racing ( a google search will bring up their website ) Most people on here use these pods
