Boost leak...

not too sure. I had ordered mine about a month ago and a friend the other week. both online. you could try phoning them if they have a contact number listed. as devonmikeyboy said though Forge are due to announce a EGR replacement pipe (straight through i guess), you'd need to speak with them also for a time scale as to when this will be available.

So SFS are the best place to go for uprated jobbies?? On a side note the other end of that bost pipe, is connected to a thin plastic pipe, the cupra mk4 has a nice big, metal jobbie would it be worth upgrade to that aswell? Anyone got a part number so I can check a price?

So SFS just do pipes, or would they also do a EGR blanking kit?

Looking at those photos, I suspect the two metal lugs on the pipe end have probably worn down, which means the horseshoe clip won't have anything to hold onto.

The lugs are quite weak and wear easily.
I suspect you need a new pipe. If you do, put a new clip on as well so you know it hasn't been weakened during previous removals.
Make sure the pipe is *fully* pushed home before putting the clip on, otherwise the clip will sit "on" the lugs rather than behind them (and this will wear them down).

And I'll echo what Nic said - there are 2 or 3 different sizes of clip, they all look pretty much the same but it's important to get the right one (IIRC when I was looking at ETKA a few years back for clips on mine, even ETKA had some of the clip numbers wrong!).
Maybe some have got mixed up if all the hoses have been off ?

Nope, didnt even take that pipe off when doing the engine mount recently. Will give it a clean and see if that works (again!) if not new pipe time by the looks of it come payday

Hello

Not really a mod, well it is.. you will see

Last week I had a problem with this :

DSC00457.jpg

The top boost pipe that joins the EGR valve had popped off slightly, I reattched it but it just came off again, so I took the pipe off with the idea of cleaning it up and then making sure it was all the way in and on correctly.. however...

What it looked like

What it should look like :

Bad times! As the lug had become clean cut... however I had a cunning plan, not that I needed to do it as I could jsut get a new one, or better still look at custom pipes which I intend to do now, however I was bored it was friday so I thought why not... bring on the modding...

Found this the garage and figured, ohh looks hard core :

So on it went...

Looks the part, and it works :) Well sort of.. the rear still came out abit, however due to this groovy mod it didnt come out fully, so still had all boost :) That was until I gave it some proper hammer to test if it could take T. Spark mode and as I went for a overtake I heard a very loud pop, and lots of black smoke...

The other lug has now clean come off.. so nothing is holding the pipe in anymore... bad times!

However this mod worked for the best part of 20 miles or so. Rock on!

Mine are always leacking or popping off and im running much less boost than this. Next time I get the car in the air im going to try and fabricate a clamping system for it!

Cleaned my pipework up where the EGR is (havnt done it all summer) omg think i will have an issue there, the clips are relatively useless, and there was so much oil lingering around the metal inserts on the 90degree pipe :(. I have a stopper so that i can run a catch etc, but i dont know where to get the pipes from.

Once i done that i think the whole EGR crap will have to come off and be cleaned up.
