Although I am corrected as it appears that Blackcircles have stock again. Wonder what their fitted price is...

James,
This frustrates the hell out of me when people write bad things about a company and they don't tell the whole story. Yes there was the unfortunate issue of somehow your windscreen got damaged. I phoned you straight after knowing we could get it all sorted that afternoon to apologise and let you know we were sorting it out, we didn't try to hide the fact it happened, were all human and things can happen. We were upfront with you and you even said thank you to us for being honest.

When your car was road tested after doing the service and brake fluid change Greig said he felt a slight vibration through the throttle pedal but there was NO high pitched whistle other wise we would have had a look and notified you of it. And your comment "I send it back in and they say that the vibration is caused because my Parrott handsfree is loose (I fitted it, it's not!) but recommend changing the dog bone mount" that doesn't even make sense and is a load of rubbish. Why would somebody state your parrot handsfree kit is loose and causing the vibration and fit a dogbone to solve it. We recommend the dogbone as that's what we thought was the problem and yes we charged you for the price of the part only and fitted it for free, we didn't have to do that.

As for this hole in the boost pipe, theres no way we needed to go near that to bleed your brakes "properly" as you put it and never touched it. If we had then we would have replaced it as this would cause an issue when driving it. Also the plastic cover that is supposedly covered in black tape again is nothing to do with us because as Ive already said we would have replaced the damaged part.

Ive got a feeling that your adding bits to this to bulk this story up, was the cover damaged before it came to us?,had you noticed it before?.Could you have damaged the pipe when taking it off to check for cack build up and its got worse for driving it. I'm the first person to hold my hands up when things go and can go wrong and we always do the best we can to get things sorted for the customer.

"I am going to write to TotalVAG, having read my post above. Even if it gets me nowhere and they think I'm a snivelling little ****, I might get some satisfaction out of letting them know they've lost a client who would have probably gone to them year in/out if it'd been any good." And no i don't think your a snivelling little ****, But it would have been nice to here all this first hand rather than having to read it here, what has that achieved for both of us, maybe we would have been willing to help you sort these so called issues that we have apparently caused.
why didn't you contact us to tell us about these issues, weather or not you were going to use us again instead of coming on here and writing what you have done. The thing that makes me laugh and alot of garage owners all go through this is the classic comment of "it never done it before it came to you".

It is a shame we have lost you as a customer, but you can never satisfy everybody. If you do wish to contact us further to discuss these matters then please do so.

I had written a letter, but as you have responded to my post in here then I will do likewise for others to read. This gives both the opportunity of a balanced discussion and you as a company the opportunity to respond to what you no doubt think are unreasonable comments in the public arena.

Addressing the points in order:

1. Yes, the windscreen was unfortunate and I did indeed say thank you for being honest. Accidents happen and had this happened in isolation, I would not be half as peeved as I am.

2. Re: The Parrott - That doesn't make sense, you are right, but my partner was there and confirmed it to me when the chap looking around my car suggested it. It was further suggested that there was wiring at the back of the pedal box and that when the car came back in, the chap would have a look at check that was all tied up. I haven't just made that up! Again, why would someone fit a dogbone mount having suggested the Parrott? I don't know, but as I say, my partner will verify this.

Re: The dogbone mount, yes I appreciate that you fitted it gratis. I am still not sure why that is, but thank you.

3. In which case, I stand corrected, because it looks to all the world like that pipe would need to be removed for the system to be pressure bled, presumably through the reservoir which sits just off centre, below said pipe. I am happy to send you a photo so you can see why I believe something like a screwdriver has pierced it.

Hopefully you will agree that this coincidence, at least, is why I make that conclusion? I have scoured this forum and others and can't find any note of that pipe getting a hole. That isn't to say though that mine is the first. If you did not do it, I will have to assume that Seat MK somehow did the damage when replacing the track rod ends. Not sure why they would have reason to touch that area though?

3. I am sorry you have the feeling I am adding bits. Not really sure why I would do that, I am just a pissed off customer and had no intention of mentioning it on here until Jonjay made mention of you above. I agree that mentioning it on the forum before I have had chance for you to redress any problems was harsh and I apologise for that.

I am however a genuine bloke and I have no reason to embellish anything. The few that have met me from here would hopefully attest to that.

4. As I think I have said above, I don't know whether you have caused them or not and yes, I am sure you get the classic rip off merchant customer that comes in and claims for something you quite obviously didn't do. I am not him.

'It never done it before it came to you' - yes, somewhat a cliche, I agree and hence why I didn't see the point in bringing it back, or writing to you until weekend gone, because I have no way to prove it (inevitably with these things, you are the specialists, not me) and it could all just be coincidence.

If you put yourself in my, lay person's shoes, can you honestly say you wouldn't have thought the same? It may well all be a coincidence and if one of the above issues had happened, I wouldn't be so fussed and would put it down to being one of those things (i.e. the windscreen and how well you handled that).

Simple fact is that Pat recommended you to me and as blokes you seem perfectly decent. As a company, whilst my reaction on a public forum is at worst unreasonable, I hope you can see why I feel the way I do.

As another has said in this thread - this is just my experience and I am sure doesn't reflect the likes of Pat's views who has been a loyal customer for years.

James,
I can totally understand where you are coming from and hope you see it from my point of view, but what I don’t understand is the way you went about all of this. We aren’t miracle mind readers and if we aren’t notified of a problem we can’t do anything about it. I have felt that this has been an unnecessary public personal attack on my company, if you had contacted us and we acted like we didn’t care then go ahead and air your frustrations, but that’s not the case.

Greig did mention about the wiring around the pedals to make you aware that it could be dangerous and would need sorting out. The reason we fitted your dogbone mount free of charge was to try and help soften the blow and smooth things out for what happened with the windscreen. Greig also mentioned that the Saturday you popped back in for us to look at the vibration you said it wasn’t until you drove another car and then drove yours again that you noticed the vibration, so how long has it been there and you hadn’t realised? Who knows.

I can 100% hand on heart promise you that we don’t need to remove that pipe to connect our machine to the reservoir, this isn’t the first BFC done on a Leon with our machine. I wish I had the answer as well as you do for the hole in the pipe but unfortunately I don’t. I would like you to email over the pictures of the pipe so we can see what you are referring to though ([email protected]) as we are intrigued.

I would like to ask that this matter stops here publicly and if you do wish to discuss this further then by all means contact me directly.

Regards

Leigh.

Thank you for the above, that's fine and yes I take the point. Whilst I have a response to Greig's comment, I don't think that gets us any further.

Thank you for the offer to review the photo, I will drop you an email with the photos as soon as I am able to get them off my phone.
