My boot release, in the space of 30 minutes of leaving work and getting home, has decided it doesn't want to release any more! Great! Anyone had this problem before? Is it a common problem, or is it my car just being annoying?

Not sure if the mechanism is the same as the Mk1 but that is/was a common problem.
If you can hear the solenoid working for the boot then maybe the handle is just stuck.
Can you open it with key manually?.
On the Mk1 you can remove the rear light and prise off the rear boot trim.
As said I've not seen the Mk2 mech or rear trim but someone may be able to give a few more pointers.

Hangon do you have a CupraR as per your username?

 your in the wrong section. Here is some help :)

Yes, it's a Mk1 and yes, it's a Cupra R - sorry, quick morning job whilst at work so wasn't entirely concentrating! Thanks for your help.

The bootlid handle and locking mechanism on my mk2 leon is to be replaced.I noticed sometimes the boot didnt open with the rest of the locks, but also the rear wiper and washer didnt work sometimes also this was caused by the car sensing as if the boot was open. The dealer is replacing the mechaism under warranty.
