Boot won't open...

As above suggests... Boot won't open when pulling the handle. Tried the key with no resolve.
How do I open it to fix it? I assume the cable has come loos or something, but how can I open it to fix it?!

Hold the handle open fully and hit it smartly downwards.

I sat in my boot, rear seats folded down with it stuck shut so it was an awkward place to be . I undid the panel screws and pulled the inner plannel off. I then got some automotive multipurpose grease, lubed up the internal mechanism and moved it up and down with my hand a few times. I got out and it worked well so I put everything back on only to come out the next day (when it was freezing cold, I think this has an effect) to find it stuck again. I then lifted the outer handle (S Badge) up and punched it downwards while still holding it with the other hand, "Ta Daa", the boot released. I stood there opening and closing the boot for about 5mins thereafter to get the mechanism greased up further and it's been fine ever since.
