Hi guys,

Abotu a month back, I reversed into a skip at something ridiculous like 3mph and my bootlid sustained quite a big dink!!

So i got some quoes to get the dink taken out and the bootlid resprayed and i've been getting quotes between £100-£120, which I thought was a bit steep.

Now, i've found a bootlid in a breakers yard, which is exactly the same colour (platinum grey) for £100.

However, i wanted to get some opinions. Would I better off getting my current bootlid fixed and resprayed or buying the replacement bootlid from the breakers yard and doing a straight swap?

Someone told me that if i go with the second option, it's a quite a tricky job as the hinges of the boot can move out of place and the lid would never close properly. If this is the case, then i'd rather get my current one resprayed.

Can i get some opinions on this please?

Cheers

depends how good/confident you are on the repair

add in fitting as well as they are heavy as hell to lift mind but they are pretty much a swap and adjust hinges/striker to suit after but a 2 man job ideally

you'll have to swap boot handle's etc over as well to match keys of course then sell the bent one cheap on flea bay ?

Hmm. Sounds straightforward but i've a feeling it might be a quite tricky.

Has anyone ever replaced a bootlid before? Any tips?
