Greetings,

I have done a few searches and couldnt find the information I wanted. In summary I am going for the 312mm brake upgrade however keeping the same caliper. I was going to buy mintex discs and pads but from what everyone on here has been saying they are pretty poor.

What would everyone recommend? Seems DS2500's are the way to go? What about discs? Furthermore is there a size of break pad i should be going for to fit my caliper?

Thanks :)

discs, i would either use ATE powerdiscs, circa 110+VAT
or EBC turbo drilled and grooved coming in around 180incl VAT from a contact, think rrp is about 220.

there are more pads than discs options out there

Pagid
EBC
Mintex

etc etc

I have gone with the EBC greenstuff pads and the EBC drilled and groved disks and the difference is outstanding, breaks are a lot sharper and stopping from high speeds is no problems. EBCbrakesdirect.com (think thats the one) have got a 10% sale at the moment so take a look on there!

To answer you question about size of pad, if you are still running the original callipers, there will be no problem with the EBC, as i have just put the on mine (LC 53 plate)

I was told the greens by some people and reds by others. i have spoke to people running the reds and they say they squeek really load and score the disks quite badly. I have had not trouble with the greens and am really impressed to say the least. but that it just my experiance and what Ibizacupra says couild well be correct

EBC seem to have an extremely good job of advertising Greestuff's but not so their harder ranges like red and yellow.
This reflects on them when greens dissapear rapidly on a car with combination of too much power and/or weight. Reds are what they tell me is what they would advise.

go figure

You have to take into consideration the weight of the car too! 200bhp in an old school Mini will take a lot less effort to stop than 200bhp in a Leon.

Both are rated to over 200bhp according to their website tho...?

and I am relaying what EBC have said to me directly re the reds vs greens for road cars

IMHO and EXPERIENCE:
Green's are shite on a powerfull/heavy car

light, low powered cars is what they better suit.

from my own experience of green's on a chipped ibiza cupra, 1000miles and they had dissapeared. shocking wear rate.
