hi,

Please help, 53plate mk4 Ibiza 1.4s how do I change the brake light switch? and where is it located? I have a 00526 fault code thanks
Also my rear wiper appears to squirt a very small amount of water onto rear window is the water leaking somewhere and causing the brake switch problem any ideas/help

regards pete

not done one but the switch is above the pedal and has a bayonet fitting must be a guide on here somewhere---I believe it wont work until fully plugged in (new one) as for rear jet look for water dripping from the bottom of the boot or it could be a clogged filter if you've used "homemade" detergent

As said already, there MUST be guides around if not in this site try Google. I'd doubt if this has any thing to do with the leaking rear washer pipe or fittings. There are many guides for sorting out rear washer problems, most problems start or are caused by not using the correct fix in freezing conditions. If all the known pipe joints are still okay, then it could be the final spray bar/back plate that has failed, repair kits should be available from VAG. Find out exactly where the "missing" water is leaking out of - ie front or rear of the car.

Oh, and you will get exposure and so help if you use the correct section of this forum - this is the FAQ section.

Thanks for the advice, i removed boot trim and found washer pipe pretty much hanging off so fixed that. Also brake bulb apeared loose in housing so tightned all connectors and ran diagnostic test again fault seems to have cleared, so i cleared dtc fault but unfortunatly EPC light and engine management light still on so might try disconnecting battery to clear fault of dash.

Sorry do apologise for posting in wrong section

Pete

Changed my failed brake light switch only a few weeks ago, so can help.

Light should clear after about a few minutes with the engine on.

Just pump the brake pedal a few times and start the engine and it should clear if the brake light switch is not faulty.
