Hi,

Over the last couple of days been having problems with the brakes, at a decent speed they're
ok but as you come to stop it feels as if the abs is cutting in and there's a grinding noise,
also after a while the abs and the tc light comes on and stays on and the grinding stops until they're cold, both lights go off again.

I havnt long replaced an abs sensor, and I have also read a post saying it could be this again.

Any other Ideas if not the sensor...??:help:

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. When braking lightly and just before coming to a stop, it feels like the abs is coming on and can feel abs & grinding through the brake pedal. No warning lights currently showing on dash. Brakes are ok when braking sharply. Checked discs and pads and both look ok.

Ye there's a bit of a lip, but I thought that's enough so I took it to the garage this morning and had a phone call from him saying he'd put it on his diagnostic and taken it for a live test it was comming up with OSF sensor which was replaced before xmas, he took the wheel off to also check the ring he said that the sensor was damaged like some thing had hit it.....So I told him to replace the sensor and hopfully put this to bed.
If not I'll be back to pick your brains for more info:)

Buy the way IBIZACUPRA nice polo, I read the thread last night !!!!!!!!!!

I just thought I'd let you know that the car is working fine at the moment.

So £75 lighter  he changed the sensor and took it for another test and it seems to have done the trick.

I had a similar problem on my old car. It turned out to be the abs cog on the driveshaft had worn down to virtually nothing. The lack of grip in the teeth of the cog caused the grinding sound when 'hopping' to a halt

If its just the sensor then great but if it occures again then it could be what I've suggested

I picked up a new driveshaft arm and cog for about £30 from a scrappy

[:@]:censored: It's just started again....Im really :censored:off with this, I just payed £75 for
getting the sensor fitted etc.

So that didnt put this problem to bed so i'm going to take it back tommorow and have a chat with the mechanic and suggest about the cog.

With regards to the wheel bolts not that I'm aware of and I dont think it's hitting anything.

I mention it as if too long a wheel bolt is fitted it pushes the abs ring onto the abs sensor and kills it whilst also bending the ring

Well just to give you an update, It seems I jumped the gun NOT that it's solved the problem completely, no lights for the moment.
Any other Ideas...???

It might be me being paranoid:blink:

i have similar problem on leon FR 55 plate. at low speed you can hear grinding noise. Just before the car stops, the ABS kicks in every time. really annoying. Dealer had a look and wasn't showing any faults and hasn't seen the problem before - suggested the control block replacement at £1100!!!!

it turned out it was the sensor after all - just didnt show up on vag com

It's not something simple like a caliper mounting bolt worked loose, is it?

Mike

I dont think a bolt would have come loose but at this point I'm willing to look at anything...:(

You need to have a look at the sensors in MBV on diagnostics and see if one is reading odd. It might not read off a fault code as it might not know its faulty,

Its strange the first sensor was damaged, I would have looked into the cause of this first

Hi, I've had no problems since,so I hope that's that as they say:D

I had the abs sensor changed
