They do that for you? Very cool, I've never thought of that.
Well, in chronological order:- I imported a VW Passat 4Motion in 2000, after buying a few probably upgrade parts for it at my local VW parts department, the parts guy handed me a full print out and said "this will save you some time" So in 2002 when I imported a VW Polo for my wife, I went back and asked for "CAR DATA" for it and was handed it. In 2012 when I started looking after my daughter's late 2009
Ibiza, I wandered into the local SEAT
dealership and they sort of knew what I was asking for, but it took two of them maybe 20 minutes to collect/collate all the pages and print them out, but at least I got CAR DATA for it. In 2013 when I bought a slightly used Audi S4, I went into my local Audi emporium and asked for a copy of CAR DATA for it and that was handed out to me quite quickly. In late 2015 when my wife bought a new 2015 VW Polo, I went into the parts department of the local branch that supplied it, "nothing like that exists nowadays - sorry" - so without arguing I left it at that as I was dealing with a young and hopefully completely switched on apprentice working in parts. A few months later, when I had a reason to visit the other branch of that local VW
dealership who seem to allow you to walk in through an unlabelled back door directly to an old style, but in a modern new
dealership building, and came face to face with the now older guy that had supplied me with the Passat and Polo CAR DATA printout, I asked for one for this new Polo, he got his young apprentice to sort that out for me under his directions, and it was handed over.
So, it does not seem to be a product/thing that disinterested or younger parts people know much about - but it exists within their car information held, and the parts catalogue will be linked to it so as to provide the correct items for that specific car. I'm going to try to get that CAR DATA print out for my daughter's
Ibiza whenever I am passing a SEAT
dealership some time soon.
I think that it can also be found within the bundle of info in ErWin, but even although I am reg'd with them, I have not had much luck using the SEAT area for anything, yet.
