Seems to be the thing we need, I'm confused by the wiring diagram tho, Can we still used the piggy back fuse thing for the ignition feed? They also do DRLR3 which dims for indicators too like the Audi system does.

Indeed. Although from what I read, DRLR2 also has that option...don't fully understand the differences tbh.

I'm making up a diagram now with all parts

New funky diagram

DRL_shnazzle.jpg

Parts:
GEnlabs DRLR2/3 unit: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...id=85768635139 (thanks Rorza!)

Snap on cable connectors like these: http://www.maplin.co.uk/snap-lock-automotive-cable-connectors-1073

Can't find good enclosures to go around the back of the SMDs yet...so black sealant will have to do for now.

Hi just got a fr last week and have a Btcc kit and would like the DRL lights on. Is there a kit made up already or has anyone used DRL bought off websites or anything? Don't fancy all the faffing around making one up. Thanks

I still think my diagram is better! ;)
It does embody "beauty in simplicity" hehe. But doesn't include my epic blocks and DRLR2 unit :D...AND...your diagram didn't save me from boredom at work for 30 minutes.

did just notice though that when I copy-pasted and flipped the bottom LED strip...the positive and negative cables got switched as well.. :D oh well!
So for the DRL's to pass the MOT they need to have the DRLR2 unit?

I'm not 100% sure on this when it comes to retro-fitted kits, but new kits definitely can't be on at night or have to be dimmed to 50% and have to adhere to a whole array of positioning requirements (no less than 250mm from bottom or more than 1500mm, light angle, etc etc)

In any case, it's a small effort to make it less apparent that you've fecked about with your car, making it less obvious during MOT

There are ready-made ones. Even Halfords sell some. But they're naff.
There are some nice ones online. Googling "DRL kit" comes up with a bunch of options.
Finding one that wires in easily into the SEAT wiring loom is not so easy. So you're probably going to end up with having to faff about with teeny wires anyway

I've just ordered the unit so I'll give it a go so that they dim to 50%.

I may also try the idea of some wet & dry on the back of the glass lens to frost it up...got a few spare so no harm in trying to see if they improve the look!

Saw an audi a3 last night with BOTH headlight and DRL's on at the same time.....................

A lot of the new mercs do too.

You are able to have a different set of lights attached to the sidelights, i used to have some led's linked in with them. Maybe they just take the stance that theyre drl during the day, and extra sidelights at night?

Also, you may not notice that hte DRLs are dimmed 50% at night.
So while you are allowed to have both DRLs and headlights on at the same time at night...the DRLs are just not allowed to be full brightness.
You just wouldn't notice they're not full brightness at night because 100% brightness during the day looks like 50% brightness at night...does that make sense?

Not sure how to copy a link using an iPad but do a search for 'DRL Relay' and it will come up for you. The ones are about £9.97 and are blue in colour. They are probably all the same but you can select or search for a Seat one.
