Hello from Finland. I've been reading this forum few months now since I placed my order mid March (310hp, Beats, electrical adjusted seats). Dealer said back then that I will get my car in june. I can check my order status from online service and maybe a month after order status showed preliminary building week 39. Two weeks ago status changed and now it says building week 44 and model year changed to 22. After that information I contacted my dealer because my current car's (Ateca) summer tires won't last till autumn. Dealer sent me a new set of tires so I was satisfied. I know delay isn't dealers fault and they do everything they can but Cupra won't get high points from me. It's starting to feel like a lottery if someone gets their car in a month and I have to prepare for next year.
It is a global problem but I agree with you. It's not clear how some people get a car in a couple of weeks but some wait for months. My guess is that these cars that came quicker were cancelled orders which were about to be built so a few lucky people could jump ahead of the line.

I'm hoping I get offered something quite similar soon! The longer the wait, the less fussed I am about the minutiae of the spec.

Or production slots for orders from finance company or dealer. Finance companies order in blocks and then offer leasing deals. Dealers also order some cars to meet their quota. So if you happy with spec that's already on order, you can get car quicker. For UK market, there's not that much choice in terms of options.

This is where the difference in wait times comes from for sure. When I ordered my car through leasing options, they, ironically, only gave me one option, midnight black with black interior. Previously I’d enquired about midnight black with blue interior. They said I had a choice, their production slot car with a July expected delivery or a factory build with blue interior and an October expected delivery. I then contacted Lookers Stockport to see if they had any cars incoming with the differening colour combinations. They told me they had no cars available or in the pipeline and they would have to raise a factory order. That was mid April ‘ish. So back then, pipeline cars appeared to be thin on the ground.
Its the same with a lot of manufacturers. I cancelled an Octavia vRS estate at the beginning of April as I’d ordered it mid January and still hadn’t been allocated a build week by end of March. So even then, things weren’t as you would expect. It’s difficult times all round.

Just had an update from my dealer (Spain), build week 38 for my order which was placed on May 5th. According to him the delay is due to the factory not being prepared for the amount of orders and they don't have the capacity to fulfil in time (sounds fishy to me!). I was originally told that the delay was due to me ordering the Sound (Beats) & Shine (Pano) pack and that the Beats stuff wasn't available yet
Just had a call from the dealer, build week has moved to 27 now so that's more promising!

Finally some good news!
My VZ 310ps will be built in week 29 and ready to be picked up late August/early September. Ordered mid of March.
My dealer informed me that my car will be model year 2022, so the switch just happened or will happen in the next couple of weeks.
No idea if that means anything technically, but can’t be a negative thing.

My VZ3 has been given a chassis number but is still at the factory. I’m guessing at least four weeks till I get it. Anyone any ideas how often the ships leave Barcelona?

I watched ships religiously after being told my car is waiting at the port, and it wasn't too often, that ship went from Barcelona to UK. I recommend https://www.vesselfinder.com/ Below is the part of the port, where car transporters dock.

I was near Sheernes recently and joked, that I took car home, to the port where it landed on UK soil. If dealer is up north, I think car will go to Grimsby port.

Thanks Agnes, I’ve done some research and I’ve noted a transporter ship called Comet Ace which seems to be a good bet. I’m up north so I think it will arrive at the Port of Tyne.

Ships left on 28th June and 5th July - the one that left on 28th was Aquarius Ace

Hi Stubby. May I ask when you ordered and which model? Ta!

I see the ship “Comet Ace” is due at the Port of Tyne in the early hours. I bet there will be quite a few Formentors arriving on it.

We were lucky, ordered end of March, due to deliver September, then it suddenly turned up beginning of July. Wondering if we got a cancellation as it wasn't built to order but came from Select Leasing.
