Burning Oil

my 99 1.4i 8valve ibiza is burning a little bit of oil. I can see the blue smoke once i have re applyed the accelelarator after coasting down a hill! any ideas what cud be causing this? someone said valve seals!

it could also be worn piston rings letting oil through to the combustion chamber.

has it done a lot of miles, or been ragged a lot?

its done 74k, ive had it for a year and havent ragged it, but unsure prior to me owning it. it has not got any modifacations. i recently done an oil change and changed the filter for a genuine one. this seemed to help abit. i upped the grade of oil from a 10-40 too a 15-40 high mileage.

wipe your finger in the tail pipe. If it smells of oil its valve stem oil seals. Head off job.
