calling all REVO'ers

That's what I thought Dambuster

I know people that have claimed with a knowingly modded car - the insurers just said they'd not replace the damaged 'modified' parts (at all)

Thats quite comon for body kits, one thing you do need to watch is even if you declare Mods, they may very well still insure, put the excess and premium up but if you have an accident they will replace non standartd items with standard itemds. Allway read the wording and ask the question, if i have an accident or theft do i get like for like replacents.

I have worked in insurance claims dept's for 2 years now and i would declare a body kit but not a remap!

From Revo Techniks website FAQ http://www.revotechnik.com/products/faq.aspx

Q: Can the insurance company see that the car is modified?

A: Insurance companies, like dealers, use different methods of discovery when it comes to chipping. Some use dealer computers to inspect the ECU while others physically open the ECU to inspect the soldering on the chip.

In either event the software would be completely invisible.

Interesting thread this. Dambuster is spot on about claim investigations (I know because I used to be a fraud investigator!!!). It all boils down to your age and car etc, what type of mods you do and the cost of claim to your insurer. Personally I wouldn't declare a Revo type mod but would declare everything else. One word of note, the old " I didn't know anything about it 'cos it was on there when I bought it" excuse never gets you off.

I've got a really good quote off of Bell Insurance, so I'm absolutely made up. Can now go ahead with REVO as it's put my mind at rest that it'll be fully declared without burning a hole in my pocket!

under 800 fully comp

3 points + fine
1 claim
0 no claims

I am insured through Admiral and with 2 years no-claims, 21 years old and the REVO remap declared my insurance went up 20% and im still under £450.

Well chuffed with it. I thought it would be worse than that.
