I expect this is the wrong place for this question but I have just moved house and am grabbing a quick ten minute shot at a friends pc. I wont be online for 2 weeks!!! THanks BT!

I was getting my cam belt service done at an independant garage and they down loanded instructions that said they needed a special Seat tool to tension the belt., Our local seat dealer wont lend out the tool, unsurprisingly but does anyone have one in Scotland I can borrow or kow if something els3e can be used???????

Many Thanks.

For the 1.8T AUQ engine.

It has a hydraulic tensioner which is nigh on impossible to push back once extended, you won't get the new belt on without it being pushed back. Very vague here but tell the garage they can use a long bolt and about 3 nuts. You place the bolt in the gap at the top of the tensioner arm and then bracing the bolt against the block, tighten the nuts to lever the tensioner back.
