Hi Adam, re this conversation the problem I'm finding is the cam cover gasket is leaking on the back right corner out of the bottom of the small half circle cut out!

Any advice, does your leak here?

I had the same problem on my 2.7t and it's a very common problem (my cupra is p1ssing out oil from this location at the moment).

When I did my gasket I replaced the halfmoon grommet as well.. Unfortunately this means you have to at least lift the cams up or take them out.

Regarding the use if gasket seal as well as the rubber gasket. I did use it and it worked fine... Although the instructions said not to.

Seat docs say to put sealant on the cylinder head below the gasket at the corners: the description isn't clear enough to tell whether they mean you to put it all along each end of the cam cover joint area, over the half-moon plugs and the camshaft seal edges. Since there will have been some on there before, make sure the joint surface is clean.

They also say to tighten the central nuts first, then the edge ones diagonally. Torque to 10Nm

Haynes also say this but just a dab of sealant in the corner of the cam carrier areas is all that is needed. You don't need anything else if using genuine parts as the camchain gasket already comes with sealant on it.

Just done this job on my own car.
