Tommy.

60k or 4 years

I put a link up to a 6 year 35k belt back in 2009 and it was tired. see if i can dig it out,

if you're comfortable with a spanner & capable of timing an engine it can be done with OEM for under £120 an 6 hours on your own driveway

I need the part number for the belt as my garage cant seem to find the part, he says the cupra is not listed as needing a timing belt, however the 1.8 turbo leon does.

just had mine done by audi specialist, cars on 92k,, VAG parts. full cambelt kit, water pump, thermostat, auxiliary belt, fluids, £404 all in  the car feels alot better to drive and its nice to see the temp at 90 deg instead of 76 max

This is confusing, because the service book that came with my '05 LCR says change toothed belt at 120,000 miles. No mention of any time either.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I reckon they just are just scaring people into getting them changed way too early. Big profits are made on car maintenance. Or is it that the belts they use these days are not as durable as before?

I know what you mean about confusing! From reading all the threads around the belt should be changed between 60-80k mileage.

Ive been quoted:

£119.95 for cambelt kit with tensioner and damper
£77.99 for cambelt kit with tensioner and no damper

What is the damper? and does an lcr come with one as standard? Is it required?

Metal water pump is £26.70

These are from euro carparts.

Fitting wise not sure yet, max will be £100 i think though.
