My clutch was definately slipping and i was due to order the parts wednesday. I got in my car this morn and driving to work the car felt like a totally different car to drive, the clutch hasnt slipped at all today and the car is less jerky etc when pulling off and alot smoother through gear changes. Doesnt make sense i cant see how it would be slipping really bad one minute then fine the next. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

The only thing i can think of is oil on the friction plate due to a oil seal failure which has burned off ? If thats the case then it will return and start to slip again.

Mine used to do that all the time.

It could be that the plate has got a shiny surface, and a few slips has roughed it up again.

Or (more likely) you've been taking it easy for a few days, and it'll start again in time

Yeh mine was slipping a little bit ages ago but it hasn't done it again for a long time, my oil never goes down so I ruled out oil leakage. It'll be getting a new clutch in the near future all the same though.

Your clutch slips and the heat makes it glaze up and slip even more because of the shiney smoother serface. If you take it easy and remove the glaze by normal driving it can stop it slipping (for a bit) I would continue with your plans to replace it if I was you.

I'll echo the others. When mine was on standard clutch and flywheel, i tried launch control out about 5 times in a row and by the 5th time it just slipped really bad, 2 days careful-ish driving and it was 100% fine again and didnt slip at all

My car developed a strange "kangarooing" effect when you engaged the clutch a few months after having an uprated clutch fitted in 2008. Hard to explain what it felt like, but was as if you started to pull away then dipped the clutch quickly and re-engaged it. This was around for a few months, really annoying the tits off me, and then just suddenly never happened again. 2 years have gone since then and have still never had it reoccur once.
