Hi,

I have searched the threads for what could be wrong with my car but am at a bit of a loss.

The engine mangement light came on but it was running fine for a couple of weeks. It had a service. I booked it in to have a diagnostic check.

Drove to Cornwall and on the way back it started juddering under hard acceleration. The revs were fluctuating by around 1-200 rpm at idle. Drove it slowly up to the Midlands where I live. was ok but did'nt floor it.

Diagnostic check done. Codes were P1128 and P1297. The garge said it related to the airflow meter and a loose hose. Both were replaced. The engine management light went out.

It is still doing the juddering intermitantly. The garage said that there were no other fault codes detected. I don't really want to take it back to them as they had left screws out and the guy who refitted the air flow meter had reconected it.

Do I go and find somewhere else to get a diagnostic done again and hope it throws up something else. I suspected the coil packs but it showed no codes for those. Unless one is starting to go and not causing the fault all the time?

Any help would be really appreciated as the car is just sat on the drive in case it breaks down.:(

So its juddering but no managment light?
Is it doing that all through the revs?

Put a vagcom request in for your area, get someone to do a check on it just incase!

Yeah, there is no management light coming on. It seems fine low down in the range and works fine sometimes but when you floor it sometimes as it gets to around 2500rpm it judders. If you keep your foot down it just gets worse and slows whereas if you let your foot up it feels better.

It doesn't feel like a slipping clutch. When it's working fine it will rev smoothly round to the red line with no signs of a slip. It feels like a lack of fuel. I can't understand why the engine mangement light doesn't come on though.

Could it be a dodgy MAF. If so wouldn't the management light come back on?

I seem to remeber when searching threads that this was a poss. How do you re-align the throttle body?

Also the garage did not reset the ecu. Is it worth doing this?

I will do the throttle body alignment and see if that makes a difference. Cheers guys.

I have done a throttle body alignment this morning and taken for a test drive. The car is doing exactly the same thing.

When putting foot down it is loosing power and very jumpy. At one point the engine management light flashed but it doesn't do that all the time when this happens.

Any more ideas?

It's been the same garages that I have used for the past couple of years. Some are supermarket, some small gargaes, some shell, esso etc.

It did get fairly low on fuel once. Could it be a poss blocked fuel line?

coil pack?? mine did something very similar to yours when 2 of mine went at same time............you had chance for anyone to vagcom it??

That what I thought it might be too. It was vag com'd about a week ago and the garage said it was the MAF. That was replaced. They didn't think it was coil packs though. Mind you they are useless as they didn't connect the MAF, left screws out, said there may be a another problem but he couldn't quite remember what it was. Really useful!

If you haven't already i'd do what BCM suggested and post a post up in vagcom request bit.

Many helpful people that would be willing to meet you somewhere

It has done 76,000 miles. I had just had it serviced (the £55 spark plugs were done) and aksed them to do a diagnostic as the engine light was on. They didn't do the diagnostic as he forgot!!! That weekend it started with the problem. It then went in for a diagnostic and had the MAF replaced and a leaky hose done but not fixed the problem.

I have posted up in the Vagcom section to ask for help to see if I can find anything else. Phoned guy a PTorque who thought it may be a coil pack starting to go.

It sounds to me like you still have a dodgy MAF mate. I replaced one on my Golf a while back, and it was faulty. Do you know anyone nearby with the same car so you can do a swap to try it?

I have disconnected the new MAF and still got the same results.

BigLad ran a quick diagnostic on it yesterday (thanks very much) and it came up with a pressure differential possibly indicating the DV.

Anyone know if there is a way to test this to see if faulty?
