I've this problem that happens just for few days every year then it just disappear for months. Problem is that I'm going to start the car, it starts, then I here click from relays and car dies. I've to try 10/20 times (starts, click, dies) until it starts and keeps running. It just happen for few days then disappear and re-appears maybe one year later. What do you think could be the problem? It sounds like electric gremlins to me. Just changed spark plugs, air filter is ok, fuel filter too.

Sounds like a bad earth somewhere if the starters not turning over.

well the starter is working right, the car starts, stay running for a second (I can also rev the engine in that amount of time) then for some reason the fuel relay click and car dies

Yep, ill second that, I had the same problem, changed the coil, Fuel pump relay, ECU relay, Distributor etc etc nothing helped the problem,in the end it turned out to be the crank sensor.....

From experience (last two Ibizas!) I'd say it might just be the crank position sensor...

The problem... Fairly obvious on closer inspection.

any idea of where is located on my 1.4 aex?

It's happened on both my previous and current GTi 16v.
With the ABF it's located behind/beneath the oil filter (which needs to be removed - if you're working from above); I'm not sure if the location is the same on your model/type? At a guess I'd say it must be in a similar spot?...
