Car Jumps?Judders when wheel spinning.

Hi guys,

Now first of all I would like to stress im not some chavvy boy racer that likes to do a burnout from every junction.

Recently I had a Stage 1 remap on my LCR 225 i thought I would give it a blast with the traction control off as it was flashing even in 3rd, well as you can imagine it was spinning up bigtime. The problem is when it starts wheel spinning it feels like my car has turned into pneumatic drill! It Judders really badly.

Does anyone know what causes this and can it be fixed?

That's wheel hop, its not very nice. uprated dog bone mount (DBM) will massively reduce it, as will stiffer suspension. THS and powerflex both do DBM's.

THS do engine mounts too, this reduces it further still.

Cheers for the quick reply! I will get onto it, it's not often I wheel spin but when I do its horrible because of the wheel hop.

Just another quick question, where is the best place to get these DBM's from? Is it just 1 i need and is it easy to fit or gonna cost me a bomb?

Yes as above you need a uprated dog bone mount. I have the ths kit but is pretty pricey. You can buy a uprated bush to go in your current mount. Powerflex do them for around £20.

Really easy fit. If its done at a garage then it will only take 10 mins. Bit longer if its done at home as you need to be under the car.

In my case one of the mounting bolts sheared, so what should have been a ten minute fit turned out to be a three hour job!!

Definitely try it at home first though, if things come apart easily enough then it is an easy job. You don't even have to support the engine.

Wheel hop is not good, had a puma that did it a lot of cars do it, but luckly the dog bone mount mod that can get on the Leon does reduce it a fair bit, seen a few vids on you tube i think showing the difference in engine movment, was impressive.

Replacing wishbone bushes for super pro will help a lot too.

Yes I was suprised when it happened and quite shocked it was that bad... didnt notice it before remap but now with the extra power it really is noticeable

Done it a few times im my cars, non have been powerfull in anyway, did make me laugh though so much noise and drama and sod all else happening
