Happened last night driving back slowley got worse until my car will now just sit in any gear and act like no power at all is getting to the wheels.

I had to abandon it as no AA cover, is there anything i can do to bodge this or is towing the only option?

So it revs ok but doesn't transmit power? Clutch completely gone? If it is, you can still drive it without your clutch but its crunchy and embarrassing!

Can you check the cables are making the shifter move on top of your box?

yes, im reasonably sure it is the clutch, but i dont know if this is regular behaviour.

When its in first gear, it would pulll then it would just pulll less and less until now it is just free reving like the clutch is depressed all the time.

If it's gone i doubt it - tbh it's probably going to be a tow and ramp job :( Can you select gears but not just not use them? What does the clutch pedal feel like?

honestly everything feels fine apart from nothing goes, :( its booked into autotechnic in wokingham, i just need to find that dam towing eye and get someone to tow me there

never mind its going to a vag specialist and being towed.

175 for Towing though.

I have a feeling there gonna turn my brown eye blue with this ordeal.

Definately sounds like clutch completely gone. Bit steep the price of recovery!

I think your brown eye will be more red and sore by the time their finished!

Get onto www.quidco.com, sign up, go through to RAC and get the cheapest cover they do. Its something like £29 with £20 quidco. If you haven't used quidco before they keep the first £15 in quidco you earn, but then anything after that you keep. So the cover will cost you £24 at the moment with a free quidco account.

I downloaded my card straight off the website once I'd joined so if you did the same you could use it straight away.

Think they claim to only tow you 10 miles, but if the garage you are going to is closer than that then you sorted, and a years worth of cover.

Or has it already been towed?

I had a drive shaft pop put of a gearbox once which caused these very same symptoms. Could get the thing in gear and clutch felt as normal. That's an easy thing to check :)
