car wont acelarate over 80mph

hi everyone

i have an 04 plate leon cupra r had a problem with it last week it wouldnt boost at all from around 20 mph so called aa and they said one of the coils had gone so replaced that seemed to work fine after. took it out last night down the motorway gets to around 80mph the car judders wont let you go any faster and the engine manegment light comes on and flashes until you slow down.

any one had this before?

Have scanned for fault codes?

Going by what you have said there should be something logged on the ECU.

no i havent yet was wondering if anyone on here has ever had the same problem before i have to go and pod out to have a diagnostic check.

The only time I've experienced that kind of juddering it has been coil pack / plug related. It's not inconceivable you've got more coil pack issues.

yeah i thought it could be the coil pack the thing is if it was the coil pack still wouldnt the car be acting up before i get to around 80mph because at lower speeds it seems to be pulling fine even after it did that.

mine was rev related in any gear (>5,500rpm). Really bad juddering.

Might be worth whipping your plugs out, checking them and if you can changing them for a basic set of NGK's for about a tenner. Then spray the coil packs with some electrical contact cleaner and putting them back in to see if there is any difference. New plugs will put slightly less strain on the coil packs so you can see if it improves.

Is there anyone else you know who you could switch coil packs with to diagnose?

Take it you have no air leaks.

arnt they known for coil pack issues eg like if one goes then a few week later another n another eg needed all four replaced its just what have heard
