Right after a week or so of faffing about i handed the keys to my dad, who gave me a lecture and took it to a local garage to sort out!
Basically his fitted the new sensor in by putting the rubber seal in first, followed by some lube or summat to keep it in place. He has also put a rubber seal (the spare one) at the top of the sensor to give it extra support, plus the clip.
He has also put air pressure in the valve housing as i had x2 fault codes on my car:
17704 P1296 - Cooling System Malfunction:
ECT Sensor, engine coolant thermostat
19534 P3078 - Throttle Control System - insufficient air flow at idle speed:
Throttle vavle housing requires cleaning, intake leak, wiring, maf sensor, TP sensor, Throttle control unit, ECM
Has checked the car for faults again and its all clear!
And it didnt cost me a penny! apart from the £10 sesnor.
Wish i had gone there first now! lol oh well its all a learning curve i suppose.
Thanks for the help peeps! (Lee69)!
