yea this is what i was thinking

i wonder if it would be safe ie the oil vapour fumes and the petrol mixed together

I just run an extended vac line down into the front arch behind the bumper and never notice any smell in the cabin, and I've left the N80 sensor plugged in but extended the wiring to hide it in the scuttle tray.

If you unplug it you'll get an EML

dose it make a loud clicking noise

Even plugged in after idling for a while it will throw a EML.

Ive tried a 33ohm 50 resistor, plugged in, raising idle RPM and it always comes on after reaching running temperature then idling.

Ill try and work it out soon with the electronics boys in work.

i removed the box kept the unit attached and cabled tied it, put a pipe right down as far as i could down the arch. Come to mention it, I always wondered where that petrol smell in the car came from  I've got some resistors to try instead of the clicking unit, will test over the weekend and post up any findings.

would you believe that my car isn't throwing up any faults with it unplugged and no resistor? hmmm

Yeah quite possibly
All cars seem to be different some bring on the light but some dont
Right then I'm just going to remove it and see what happens , I could connect an ohmmeter to it to see what resistance it is when it's venting

Someone needs to get to the bottom of this now to find out what resistor is needed. If you could do that Tom that would be great.

My light seems to come on after driving it then stopping and idling, like waiting in traffic.

Exactly where I used to get it. I still think it's related to a lamda condition that the ecu expects to see after venting.
