So the carbon fabric sheets easier to work with but how do durable are they? Don't want to start this using something that is going to scratch / scuff really easily. Was going to use it on the interior or should i just get the real carbon stuff?

Big Boy's Toy's is now AmD, it's the same firm just under a different name. they are still in Essex next to Ikea.
If you want the engine cover then speek to Forge, beware they are expensive

The real carbon is a lot more durable than the vinyl as it is coated in 3-4 layer of clear coat resin which protect's the weave and gives it a deep glossy finnish.
What every you do dont mix real CF and vinyl CF in the same area it will look bad ;)
 
Ok guys, sorry for going on and on here but just want to get the right stuff. I have been on ebay and had a look at the 3M Di-Noc Carbon sheets. Is this the stuff to go for? 300x300mm from underground graphics, this should do for a trial.
 
Will post link when on the computer tomorrow (on the mobile just now). Yeah i was only planning on using the 3M stuff in the cabin. I checked my old B.B.T price list for the forge engine cover it was only £130. Oh wait a minute the price was from 2005-06. lol..
 
Cool thats not too bad. Any tips you can give me about fitting? Remove part, clean, heat sheet with girlfriend's hair dryer (sshhh we won't tell her about that..lol), apply sheet edge to edge while removing any air bubbles...
 
that 3m stuff is ace, not tried near engine though.

to remove the surround you need to undo 2 screws behind the ash tray (remove the one screw inside of it) and then two screws behind the headunit, then it just pulls away
 
dh0001.. I only plan to use the 3M stuff inside the cabin. Mmm with regards to removing the center trim I have one issue as my right hand side clip from removing the headunit doesn't catch the removal key. The guys at SEAT tried but couldn't get it. Any ideas on how to get to those screws without removing the headunit? Or getting the unit out?
 
No worries phill, i'm just going to keep trying, got a few pointers from lee. Quick question on fitting the 3M Di-noc sheet. Do you guys wrap it right round the part flush with the edge? Or return 10 to 20mm on the back of the part being covered?

Depends what I'm covering but I normally try and flap it back on itself
 
Cheers mate, thats kinda what i thought. Knew you would be the guy to ask..lol. All i need to do now is get this headunit out. Should get the 3M Di-noc sheet during the week. What do you think about doing the center trim as a 1st attempt?
