Hey Guys,

Ive had a search but it didnt come up with my exact answers. I went today and bought a cassette adapter for my Sony DC5, so i can plug it in and run through the tape player.

I put the tape and nothing happens at all, no movement, no sound , nothing. Could there be a fuse gone? or am i operating it wrong, which i honestly dont think im that stupid.

This has now ruined my idea for a simple cheap mp3 hook up. So now my options are either a Fm modulator or ive heard of units that enable me to disconnect my cd changer and connect my DC5 instead? does anybody have one of these or know where i can get one?

Any thoughts on whats wrong with me tape player?

thanks

Russ

do you not have a std tape to try and play? or burrow one from a friend or relatives collection? Dad/grandparents etc?

At least you can eliminate things from the equation - if a tape doesnt play you know for a fact its the stereo....

Personally, i would have thought if the tapes not playing/spinning you either havent pressed play (LMAO) or you might have a broken belt/gear in it. So many things could be wrong - unfortunately old technology like tapes etc tend to rely more on mechanical than electrical components..

go to ALDI, you can get a car CD player which plays mp3 cds, you can slot a mp3 memory card into it, and it also comes with a lead which alows you to plug your mp3 player into the unit itself, and all this for £50

you just cant go wrong
i was thinking about getting it today.
if your thinking of getting it get it soon cos i think they change the stock every week or so, or i guess itll sell pretty quick either way

Thanks guys, yeah ive got a mk3 so i have no din slot to put a head unit into and id like to keep the standard unit.

I put the tape in and it does nothing at all, it doesnt even take the tape when its fully in. Its like the sensor is not detecting im putting a tape in so its not switching itself on. I think its thrown a wobbly and died on me. I fear it may be mechancial to.

Anybody know of the cd changer idea where i connect my HD5 up through that instead?

Thanks Guys

if you want to put a new tape player behind it that shouldnt be too hard, you just take the fascia off the dash, take the old tape player unit out, and replace it with another one from another mk3 ibiza (scrappy should have one). The wires for a cd changer should be in your car, all you should need is a compatible changer to hook up to them. Have a trip to a car audio specialist (dont advise helfrauds from past experience) and see if they canb hook you up, be cheaper than going to a dealer.
