Celox Tuning- Beware

Celox PD TDI Tuning Module- Leon Cupra (and where is the inlet air temp sensor)

Hi all

Anyone heard of Celox tuning?

I've recently purchased a +35bhp tuning module from them; according to their website a Leon Cupra TDI should get the full 35bhp increase but it was only £20 odd squid so I'm a bit sceptical.

Anyone used these before?

Also I need to plug the tuning box in between the inlet air temperature sensor and the two pin connector….I’m a dumb ass with this kind of thing so does anyone know where this sensor is on a TDI Cupra (150 bhp)? I’m sure I could probably find it but some reassurance I’m doing the right thing from someone more knowledgeable would be good.

Cheers guys

Resistor in a box, worth around 5p if even! Sig con, see cars with them on all the time, usually Pug 306 TD's; should be rebranded the 007 smoke screen mod!

They usually fit inline with the fuel temperature sender wiring, not the air inlet temp sensor.

It's basically a resistor that fools the ECU into thinking the fuel is hotter than it is, so it will inject more.
It'll work to a certain degree, but it won't be very smooth, will be quite smokey, and will send the estimated MPG reading on the trip computer wayyyyyy out.
The extra fuel gets added all the time, regardless of the real engine & fuel temp, load, etc etc.

I had one on my passat and it did all that is mentioned plus the idle is really lumpy.
Get your money back if you can and dont even bother putting it on

I know someone in a PD100 that is using something similiar. I too was sceptical of these but after being in the car it's practically as good as a remap and idle was fine and i couldn't notice any smoke in the mirror. So i would try it.

Do you remember the old whiskers add, well if 'nine out of ten cats do not prefer it', then I would deem that to be a resounding no no.

End of.

I would not even give my Celox module away. Just not worth the risk. :)

Treat yourself to an unprated clutch, proper remap, ARBS, exhaust system, powerflex font bushes (incl d/b), if you're serious about upgrading. Just like me :D - oh I wish I 'd started this sooner! to be cont...

And yes you can afford it if you really want it that much - just be economical with the truth to the wife or girlfriend.

I'm an advocate that if you really want something you can afford it, if you wanted a ferrari that much you would make yourself afford it, stay at home with your parents, never go out, work as much o/t as poss. Even someone with a modest wage. Its called choice.

Sorry if this sounds patronising, it was not meant to be, just trying to be positive. Do what I'm doing, interest free credit card it over twelve months and pay it off every single month - much easier to swallow.

Tell you what if your still keen, PM me, you can have mine for a tenner plus a nugget p&p. Beer money.

Otherwise it'll sit in it's packet.

If you guys from above deem this as abuse for selling - I apologise - please be gentle!

Twas not meant to be like that.

Thanks I would take you up on it but I already have one. I am still gonna give it a go, I can always remove it if I dont like it but I've questioned the guys at www.celoxperformance.com and they seem genuine enough. No harm trying right!?

I dont suppose anyone can direct me to the 'inlet air temperature sensor'? I think I know where it is but some reassurance wouldnt go amis

Sorry mate, just missed you on the edit, realised in the re read that you already had one - so sorry.

Keep up with the fiddling and upgrading. :D:D

Still would not put it on, I did a lot of research on here for this and that was my conclusion - you have a 150pd Leon worth between £6k - £10?. your motor mate. Sorry to put a downer but do the searches.

Hi

In case anyone is considering a celox tuning chip PLEASE DON'T

I tried one on a Cupra TDI (150). For the first few tanks of fuel it was fine and I was chuffed at the power increase and seemingly amazing reduction in Turbo Lag BUT after those first few tanks it all goes bad. Smoky engine, bad performance, engine light on, generally ****.

And the problems wont miraculously vanish if you take the mod off.

AVOID THEM!

Sorry to hear that mate

I was lucky and without knowing alot, found a remap company that (near on 60,000 miles later) have put on such a good map, I cant fault it.

I got my re-map at Custom-Code down at JBS and its be great, if you want more power, without hiccups like this, give them a call mate, well worth it imho
