Central locking failure

Evening,

I'm new here so be gentle!! My central locking is not working, when I press the lock or unlock on the key the light on the key stays red for quite a while and nothing happens.

Also when I open my door there is no fuel pump noise and my interior light doesn't come on until I put the ignition on, are these problems linked? Also there's a lot of water in the back (don't worry I've read the thread) could this be causing these issues?

Cheers

Fuses 14 and 38 cover interior lighting and central locking simultaneously, so check them.

New battery in your fob might be needed too.

Right, fuses 14 and 38 are fine. The battery in the key was replaced about 6 months ago can't be that can it?

I havn't got a puddle light but the light on the card card comes on when I open the door if that's what you mean?
The pump noise starts at the same time the interior light comes on, after about 30 seconds as opposed to when the door is first opened. This is not a problem but thought that it might all be linked up or be easier for someone to diagnose for me!

Thanks again

Does the central locking lock/unlock when you use the buttons on the drivers side door. If it does then you can rule out mechanical, in which case maybe the keyfob/transponder might not be linked to your car.
If you got a master key with 7 digit key code, someone with vag commander could add a new or your existing keyfob/transponder to your car.
